Edu Machado recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 5th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Fortaleza EC's Rodrigo Maciel got a good chance for a goal in the 7th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. 10 minutes into the match, Águia Branca FC's goal looked a bit too open when Rodrigo Maciel came free, but Célio Cerezo reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Rodrigo Maciel fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 13th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Célio Cerezo having to interfere. Vladimir Loyola kicked well hit freekick during the 16th minute of the match. After 20 minutes of play, the referee blew the whistle. It was a penalty for Fortaleza EC! The supporters of Águia Branca FC booed when Fortaleza EC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 25 match minutes in a wonderful position. Oswaldo Valladares didn't get a good kick on the ball. After having played for 29 minutes, Zé Paulo Sabóia managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Águia Branca FC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Zé Paulo Sabóia was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. In the 31st of the match, Zé Paulo Sabóia tried to place the ball in the upper right corner, but Zé Roberto Dantas got in the way and made a wonderful save. Zé Paulo Sabóia received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 34th minute. Zé Roberto Dantas tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Edu Machado recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 39th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. A collision led to Fortaleza EC getting a freekick after 41 minutes play. Guilherme Domingues hit a great ball. João Meirelles, 42 minutes into the match, dribbled the ball up the side of the field and decided to take a long shot at the goal. Unfortunately, the ball was poorly hit and landed closer to the corner than to the goal. Jorginho Miranda struck a weak shot in the 47th minute. Célio Cerezo didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Fortaleza EC. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 1-0 at half-time.

Zé Paulo Sabóia scored 2-0 in the 56th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Zé Roberto Dantas, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Oswaldo Valladares could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 64th minute of the match, but Célio Cerezo made a huge save. When Jorginho Miranda came up free with the goalie in the 67th minute, the Fortaleza EC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Jorginho Miranda couldn't finish the play. Zé Roberto Dantas showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Zé Paulo Sabóia in the 70th minute of the match. After 73 minutes, Jardel de Amaral mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Fortaleza EC and the Águia Branca FC players grew even worse after the yellow card. Fortaleza EC:s Zé Roberto Dantas showed great skill when he stopped João Meirelles:s penalty. The audience thought a goal was coming when Rodrigo Maciel got free with Célio Cerezo in the 76th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. An unexpectedly hard shot by Jorginho Miranda in the 78th minute of play forced Águia Branca FC's goalkeeper Célio Cerezo to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. An unexpectedly hard shot by Edu Machado in the 88th minute of play forced Fortaleza EC's goalkeeper Zé Roberto Dantas to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After having played for 90 minutes, Rodrigo Maciel managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. After some fancy dribbling in the 99th minute, Edu Machado managed to get in a good position for a shot. Águia Branca FC's supporters rose to their feet, but Edu Machado was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Zé Roberto Dantas breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. The referee blew his whistle, and the match came to a close. The players exchanged shirts and headed down the tunnel. The Águia Branca FC fans cheered their team off the field, for while Fortaleza EC had put up a good fight, they were unable to come out of the game with any points to show for their effort.
