The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Hélder Donatello received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 2nd minute. Roberto Falcão tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Edson Quadros in the 5th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Doriva Marques prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Doriva Marques showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Edson Quadros in the 8th minute of the match. The Spock Futebol Clube fans' excitement grew in the 10th match minute when Spock Futebol Clube's Edson Quadros looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 0-1 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. When Túlio Godoi fell near the penalty area in the 15th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Cratheus SS's protests and gave Túlio Godoi a yellow card for diving instead. When Vivaldo Quadros came up free with the goalie in the 16th minute, the Spock Futebol Clube fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Vivaldo Quadros couldn't finish the play. The supporters of Spock Futebol Clube booed when Cratheus SS was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 25 match minutes in a wonderful position. Túlio Godoi didn't get a good kick on the ball. Vivaldo Quadros recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 27th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Doriva Marques didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Edson Quadros went, in the 29th minute, to the upper right corner, 0-2 was the resulting score. After 32 minutes, Evandro Paraense mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Spock Futebol Clube and the Cratheus SS players grew even worse after the yellow card. Evandro Paraense kicked well hit freekick during the 33rd minute of the match. Doriva Marques made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Edson Quadros in the 38th minute of play. In the 41st minute Edson Quadros shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Doriva Marques saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Aníbal Marinho sent away a hard shot on goal in the 44th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 0-2 lead.

Edson Quadros fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 54th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Doriva Marques having to interfere.
