Doriva Marques tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Through an outstanding action, after 40 minutes, Doriva Marques successfully got his hands on the ball before it slid into the goal at the right post. In the 46th minute, Jorginho Miranda got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 1-0 at half-time.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Jorginho Miranda was the one to do the kick off. Jorginho Miranda struck a weak shot in the 56th minute. Doriva Marques didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Fortaleza EC. After 59 minutes, Amauri Fernandez mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Cratheus SS and the Fortaleza EC players grew even worse after the yellow card. When Vladimir Loyola fell near the penalty area in the 92nd minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Fortaleza EC's protests and gave Vladimir Loyola a yellow card for diving instead. After a rather tough play, Fortaleza EC's Vladimir Loyola got a free kick in the 92nd minute. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Jorginho Miranda in the 95th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Doriva Marques prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Fortaleza EC's supporters were delighted with their team's performance and swarmed onto the pitch at the end of the match to celebrate the victory with the players.
