Fortaleza EC's Rodrigo Maciel got a good chance for a goal in the 7th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Rafinha da Silva fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 9th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Zé Roberto Dantas having to interfere. In the 11th minute of the match, Zé Pedro Bezerra tried to roll the ball into the goal by the right post, but Zé Roberto Dantas saw his intentions and got control of the ball before it passed the line. Rafinha da Silva might have been able to make a better finish in the 20th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Zé Roberto Dantas. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Rafinha da Silva ran back to his position shaking his head. Aloísio Paulista showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Rodrigo Maciel, who was totally free with the ball in the 23rd minute. The supporters of Fortaleza EC booed when AD Academia Real was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 23 match minutes in a wonderful position. Naldo Barreto didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 61st match minute, Fortaleza EC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Oswaldo Valladares to maneuver through the defense. In the 82nd minute Jorginho Miranda shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Aloísio Paulista saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After some fancy dribbling in the 83rd minute, Rodrigo Maciel managed to get in a good position for a shot. Fortaleza EC's supporters rose to their feet, but Rodrigo Maciel was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Aloísio Paulista breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick.
