Vivaldo Maranhense's late challenge caught a Seleção's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Vivaldo Maranhense helped the player get up and apologised. In the 16th match minute, SÂO BERNArDO FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Vivaldo Maranhense to maneuver through the defense. Gerson Amaral sent away a hard shot on goal in the 17th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 19th minute, one of SÂO BERNArDO FC:s players had the ball in front of the goal but got pushed and fell. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for SÂO BERNArDO FC. The referee gave Seleção a penalty, 21 minutes into the game. The penalty shot was made by Marcelinho Silveira, who made a well placed shot into the net to the right of SÂO BERNArDO FC's Christiano Peres. 1-1. Flavinho Jacinto received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 27th minute. Christiano Peres tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Seleção's Marcelinho Silveira was standing unmarked in front of the goal when he, in the 32nd play minute, got the ball and easily drilled it into the goal. When the match had gone on for 38 minutes, Marcelinho Silveira took a quick shot and it went in 4-1 without a chance for Christiano Peres to make any attempt to save it. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Serginho Tasso during the 43rd minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. The supporters of Seleção booed when SÂO BERNArDO FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 43 match minutes in a wonderful position. Serginho Tasso didn't get a good kick on the ball. A collision led to Seleção getting a freekick after 45 minutes play. Nicolas Peres hit a great ball. After 46 played minutes, SÂO BERNArDO FC's Délio Valladares shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Miguel Sanches came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in SÂO BERNArDO FC reached it.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Ademar Cunha to make the kick off. In the 56th match minute, SÂO BERNArDO FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Walmyr Vidal to maneuver through the defense. When the match clock showed 69 minutes, the score became 5-1 when Marcelinho Silveira sped through SÂO BERNArDO FC's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Christiano Peres. Miguel Sanches was out of position in the 73 minute of play, and Rômulo Marinho capitalized on the mistake with a soft shot into the goal. Rômulo Marinho really showed his touch with that goal: 5-2. Christiano Peres came out of the goal in the 80th minute to try and stop a shot by Seleção's Flavinho Jacinto. But to his dismay, Flavinho Jacinto quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 6-2. Marcelinho Silveira struck a weak shot in the 86th minute. Christiano Peres didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Seleção. Christiano Peres showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Marcelinho Silveira in the 89th minute of the match. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Marcelinho Silveira in the 94th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Christiano Peres prevented the ball from getting in the gole. In the 95th minute Ademar Cunha shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Miguel Sanches saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. There was no doubt that Seleção were the better team. Seleção's players enjoyed the ovations of the crowd after the victory.
