Gonçalo Chaves made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Zeca Costa in the 13th minute of play. If Eliseu Paraibano had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 15th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. An unexpectedly hard shot by Cláudio Neiva in the 21st minute of play forced Valfenda's goalkeeper Luiz Fábio Sena to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Vítor Munhoz received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 23rd minute. Luiz Fábio Sena tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. With a little luck, Valfenda's Luiz Fábio Sena got control of the ball when Eliseu Paraibano tried to sneak it across the goal line. In the 27th minute of the match Bahia EC got a corner. Valfenda's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Adrianinho de Queirós ran over to the corner to take the kick. A nice corner shot did that Adrianinho de Queirós got away a dangerous shot. Despite this Luiz Fábio Sena quite easily got ahold of the ball to make the save. The supporters of Bahia EC booed when Valfenda was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 35 match minutes in a wonderful position. Gugu Travassos didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 36th minute Cláudio Neiva shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Luiz Fábio Sena saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After some careless play in the Valfenda defense, Eliseu Paraibano kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Luiz Fábio Sena. The Valfenda fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Luiz Fábio Sena should have stopped the shot. Gonçalo Chaves showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Agnaldo da Fonseca, who was totally free with the ball in the 45th minute. Disappointed in the 1-2 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

51 minutes into the game, Eliseu Paraibano cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 2-2. Luiz Fábio Sena was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Zeca Costa in the 56thth minute had a little luck and got a chance for a shot in front of the goal. Without hesitation aimed to the right of Gonçalo Chaves, who managed to lunge to the right direction and made a save. With his leg Gonçalo Chaves managed to avoid a goal in the 57thth minute, when Valfenda's Zeca Costa fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. Zeca Costa received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 60th minute. Gonçalo Chaves tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. A collision led to Bahia EC getting a freekick after 64 minutes play. Renato Botelho hit a great ball. The supporters of Valfenda booed when Bahia EC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 70 match minutes in a wonderful position. Vítor Munhoz didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 73rd minute Bahia EC were awarded a corner. Adrianinho de Queirós went to the cornerflag to take it. In the 74th minute Cláudio Neiva shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Luiz Fábio Sena saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Gonçalo Chaves showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Agnaldo da Fonseca in the 78th minute of the match. In the 80th minute of the match, Agnaldo da Fonseca tried to roll the ball into the goal by the right post, but Gonçalo Chaves saw his intentions and got control of the ball before it passed the line. Gugu Travassos's late challenge caught a Bahia EC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Gugu Travassos helped the player get up and apologised. In the 80th match minute, Valfenda was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Gugu Travassos to maneuver through the defense. Neither set of supporters seemed pleased with the draw, but both teams had played equally well today.
