In the 38th minute the ball was on its way in behind Tulhas's goalkeeper Alfredo Favoretto, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Tulhas's defense didn't have a chance, in the 42nd minute, when Jerônimo Varela scored to the left of an out of position Alfredo Favoretto, making the score, 2-0. Alfredo Favoretto stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Faustão Félix's shot from short distance in the 47th minute. Af the end of the first half the score was 2-0. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.

Gugu Barreto was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. 88 minutes into the match, Império Futebol Clube's Wilson Meirelles sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Alfredo Favoretto narrowly saved just below the crossbar. A collision led to Tulhas getting a freekick after 92 minutes play. Serginho Vinhas hit a great ball. In the 94thth minute of the game Faustão Félix who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Tulhas's Alfredo Favoretto was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Tulhas succeeded in salvaging a draw, even though Império Futebol Clube had controlled the match.
