The referee ignored Japyra EC's protests and gave Serginho Coutinho a yellow card for diving instead. In the 23rd minute, Serginho Coutinho hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Renan Soares fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 24th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Jorginho Rosado having to interfere. After a rather tough play, Passo Fundo SC's Rodriguinho da Silva got a free kick in the 28th minute. Serginho Coutinho hit a great freekick 30 minutes into the match.
