Merlin's supporters crossed their fingers, but Vítor Marquez was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Merlin's Luiz Fabiano Domingues got a good chance for a goal in the 11th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. After some careless play in the Alexandria defense, Luiz Fabiano Domingues kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Robinho do Vale. The Alexandria fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Robinho do Vale should have stopped the shot. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Patrick Queiroz during the 17th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. Patrick Queiroz kicked well hit freekick during the 17th minute of the match. Léo Prestes received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 19th minute. Patrick Urbano tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 0-3 lead.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Délio do Vale made a kick off. The supporters of Merlin booed when Alexandria was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 50 match minutes in a wonderful position. Tostão Munhoz didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 53rd minute, Délio do Vale ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Robinho do Vale was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-4. Ciro de Azevedo charged in rather forcefully in the 56th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Robinho do Vale showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Délio do Vale in the 92nd minute of the match. The Alexandria fans had already started to leave before the final whistle blew. Merlin were clearly better and deserved to take the win.
