That made the score 1-0 after 3 minutes of play. In the 5th match minute, Real Scali was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Adhemar Azevedo to maneuver through the defense. Hélder Faria showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Nilton Nogueira in the 8th minute of the match. 11 minutes into the match, Walmyr Bastos notched a goal, 1-1, to the right of FLAMENGO's Hélder Faria. Hélder Faria was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. A collision led to FLAMENGO getting a freekick after 14 minutes play. Vítor Queirós hit a great ball. 15 minutes in the game, the ball went up into the seats when Real Scali's Nilton Nogueira fired away a shot that was just a little bit too high. He walked away shaking his head. After some careless play in the Real Scali defense, Wesley Carvalho kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Raimundo Neto. The Real Scali fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Raimundo Neto should have stopped the shot. Raimundo Neto made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Amauri Machado in the 23rd minute of play. After 25 played minutes FLAMENGO got a freekick which was hit by Rony Netto. After some careless play in the FLAMENGO defense, Nilton Nogueira kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Hélder Faria. The FLAMENGO fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Hélder Faria should have stopped the shot. The supporters of FLAMENGO booed when Real Scali was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 41 match minutes in a wonderful position. Walmyr Bastos didn't get a good kick on the ball. The referee blew the whistle for a penalty in the 41st minute of the game. One of Real Scali:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of FLAMENGO:s goal. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Adalberto Hermes to make the kick off. Raimundo Neto stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Wesley Carvalho's shot from short distance in the 52nd minute. After 52 minutes, Wesley Carvalho made it 4-3 with a short kick to the right side. Real Scali's Raimundo Neto tried to save the shot but he was too slow in reacting to the shot. 56 minutes into the match, Real Scali's goal looked a bit too open when Wesley Carvalho came free, but Raimundo Neto reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Raimundo Neto showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Wesley Carvalho, who was totally free with the ball in the 59th minute. In the 60th minute, Naldo de Sousa hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Real Scali's Raimundo Neto played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Vítor Queirós in the 61st minute of play. 62 minutes had been played when some careless play by Real Scali's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Wesley Carvalho was slow to take the kick. During this time FLAMENGO's players had a chance to rest. FLAMENGO's Wesley Carvalho was first on the ball when the corner was shot and he dangerously headed the ball towards goal, but Raimundo Neto in the goal jumped up to prevent it from getting in. An unexpectedly hard shot by Amauri Machado in the 63rd minute of play forced Real Scali's goalkeeper Raimundo Neto to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The FLAMENGO fans' excitement grew in the 65th match minute when FLAMENGO's Vítor Queirós looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 5-3 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. The audience thought a goal was coming when Nilton Nogueira got free with Hélder Faria in the 69th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. In the 70th minute, Nicolas Meireles got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. In the 73rd match minute, Real Scali was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Adhemar Azevedo to maneuver through the defense. After 74 played minutes FLAMENGO got a freekick which was hit by Luiz Fábio Munhoz. In the 75thth minute of the game Adalberto Hermes who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but FLAMENGO's Hélder Faria was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Raimundo Neto showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Amauri Machado in the 76th minute of the match. Real Scali's Raimundo Neto played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Vítor Queirós in the 79th minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Amauri Machado in the 80th minute of play forced Real Scali's goalkeeper Raimundo Neto to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. With a little luck, FLAMENGO's Hélder Faria got control of the ball when Nilton Nogueira tried to sneak it across the goal line. The supporters of FLAMENGO booed when Real Scali was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 84 match minutes in a wonderful position. Naldo de Sousa didn't get a good kick on the ball. The corner ended in Wesley Carvalho almost managing to get the ball behind the net, but Real Scali's Raimundo Neto did a great save. Hélder Faria made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Adalberto Hermes in the 89th minute of play. 91 minutes into the match, Amauri Machado had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Raimundo Neto. Real Scali's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Amauri Machado was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 6-3. After some fancy dribbling in the 95th minute, Rony Netto managed to get in a good position for a shot. FLAMENGO's supporters rose to their feet, but Rony Netto was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Raimundo Neto breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick.
