Hugo Montenegro was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. If Jeferson Vasconcelos had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 22nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Alexandre Varela in the 31st managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Marcelo Brodel saved Carnaubeir EC from getting behind. After 33 played minutes Carnaubeir EC got a freekick which was hit by Luizão de Carvalho. 34 minutes into the match, Carnaubeir EC's goal looked a bit too open when Nicolas Fonseca came free, but Marcelo Brodel reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. With a little luck, Carnaubeir EC's Marcelo Brodel got control of the ball when Alexandre Varela tried to sneak it across the goal line. Marcelo Brodel showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Hamílton Couto, who was totally free with the ball in the 37th minute. The crowd rose to their feet as Giru EC's Hamílton Couto slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Marcelo Brodel. That made the score 2-2 after 38 minutes of play. In the 43rd minute Hamílton Couto shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Marcelo Brodel saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Thiago de Carvalho received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 46th minute. Hugo Montenegro tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Marcelo Brodel showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Hamílton Couto, who was totally free with the ball in the 48th minute.

Carnaubeir EC's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Hamílton Couto was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 3-2. Carnaubeir EC's Marcelo Brodel played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Nicolas Fonseca in the 57th minute of play. The supporters of Giru EC booed when Carnaubeir EC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 59 match minutes in a wonderful position. Jeferson Vasconcelos didn't get a good kick on the ball. 61 minutes into the match, Carnaubeir EC's goal looked a bit too open when Hamílton Couto came free, but Marcelo Brodel reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After 62 minutes of play, Giru EC's Alexandre Varela made it 4-2 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Marcelo Brodel was left in no man's land by his defense there! In the 79th minute, Alexandre Varela got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. In the 82nd minute, Hamílton Couto ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Marcelo Brodel was frozen by the shot and now it was 7-2. In the 85th minute, Thiago de Carvalho ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Hugo Montenegro was frozen by the shot and now it was 7-3. The supporters of Carnaubeir EC booed when Giru EC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 90 match minutes in a wonderful position. Zeca Pimenta didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 91st minute of the match Cássio Teles sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Hugo Montenegro skillfully saved the ball. Hugo Montenegro made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 7-4. The referee blew his whistle, and the match came to a close. The players exchanged shirts and headed down the tunnel. The Giru EC fans cheered their team off the field, for while Carnaubeir EC had put up a good fight, they were unable to come out of the game with any points to show for their effort.
