RibeiroCity's Tony de Queiroz got a good chance for a goal in the 20th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. In a very dangerous position, a player in União Esporte Club fell when an opponent tried to get the ball from him in the 21st minute. Penalty! União Esporte Club:s Durval Dracena showed great skill when he stopped Luisinho da Costa:s penalty. Luisinho da Costa took the ball and in the 24 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Durval Dracena. The supporters of União Esporte Club booed when RibeiroCity was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 54 match minutes in a wonderful position. Adriano Aparecido didn't get a good kick on the ball. Válter Fernandes fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 73rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Ediberto Favoretto having to interfere. 74 minutes into the game, União Esporte Club's Cláudio Romero nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Ediberto Favoretto made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 1-3. When André Gonçalves came up free with the goalie in the 93rd minute, the União Esporte Club fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that André Gonçalves couldn't finish the play. Chants of RibeiroCity echoed around the stadium as the match drew to a close. Supporters and players were both delighted with the win, as União Esporte Club had held the ball for most of the match.
