The audience was convinced that Haroldo Massa's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Arí Andrade was relentless in the 10th minute of the game. The referee ignored União Esporte Club's protests and gave Wilson Santana a yellow card for diving instead. After 35 played minutes União Esporte Club got a freekick which was hit by Wilson Santana. Arí Andrade made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Haroldo Massa in the 37th minute of play. 38 minutes into the game, Laércio de Lima was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Cajueira's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave União Esporte Club the free kick. After 38 played minutes Cajueira got a freekick which was hit by Laércio de Lima. André Gonçalves kicked well hit freekick during the 40th minute of the match. In the 41st minute, Didi Ferreira hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After a defensive mix-up in União Esporte Club's zone, Roger Ieberink stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Durval Dracena came out of the goal and Roger Ieberink tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

The wind increased when Roger Ieberink made the kick off in the second half. Durval Dracena came out of the goal in the 64th minute to try and stop a shot by Cajueira's Roger Ieberink. But to his dismay, Roger Ieberink quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-0. Hugo de Brito's late challenge caught a União Esporte Club's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Hugo de Brito helped the player get up and apologised. A collision led to Cajueira getting a freekick after 73 minutes play. Hugo de Brito hit a great ball. When Laércio de Lima was, once again, overly rough in his play he received his second yellow card and was ordered off the ground. 81 minutes had been played. The supporters of União Esporte Club booed when Cajueira was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 82 match minutes in a wonderful position. Laércio de Lima didn't get a good kick on the ball. União Esporte Club's Didi Ferreira managed, thanks to a brazen rush, stole the ball on a throw-in made by Danilo Novaes in the 96 minute of the game. Haroldo Massa struck a weak shot in the 97th minute. Arí Andrade didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for União Esporte Club. For all the effort they put into the match, the União Esporte Club players left disappointed. They had fought hard, but couldn't break down the home team's defense. The match ended in a win for Cajueira.
