In the 44th minute, Wellington de Brito got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. William Cordeiro could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 47th minute of the match, but Walmyr da Silva made a huge save. The fans had the chance to grab some refreshments as the whistle went for half-time. The score stood at 0-0 after a close first half.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for William Cordeiro to strike the kick off in the second half. In the 51st minute, Rodrigo de Brito made a precise shot to the right of Rafinha Romero. CRF Russe's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 0-1. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Andrézinho Cordeiro during the 54th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. An unexpectedly hard shot by William Cordeiro in the 56th minute of play forced NEWCASTLE's goalkeeper Walmyr da Silva to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. If William Cordeiro had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 90th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Despite being the better team, CRF Russe failed to find the winning goal and were forced to settle for a single point.
