E. Triângulo's goal looked a bit too open when Jorginho Xavier came free, but Washington Custódio reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Fiori Matos in the 17th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Washington Custódio saved S. E. Triângulo from getting behind. If Fiori Matos had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 41st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 43rd minute Fiori Matos shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Washington Custódio saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Vicente Rossi hit a great freekick 44 minutes into the match. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 0-1 lead.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Luiz Breckenfeld to strike the kick off in the second half. S. E. Triângulo's Washington Custódio played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Vicente Rossi in the 53rd minute of play. A collision led to S. E. After a defensive mix-up in S. E. Triângulo's zone, Fiori Matos stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Washington Custódio came out of the goal and Fiori Matos tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. FERRÃO's Bernardo Ramalho played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Luiz Breckenfeld in the 75th minute of play. If Luiz Breckenfeld had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 77th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Triângulo fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Washington Custódio should have stopped the shot. Washington Custódio took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Vicente Rossi, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. When the final whistle sounded FERRÃO left the ground with the victory after a much better performance than S. E. Triângulo.
