The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. 3 minutes into the match, Luiz Breckenfeld had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Tostão Mendes. Rive's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Luiz Breckenfeld was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-1. 7 minutes into the match, Dito Palmeira dribbled the ball past the defender and swiftly kicked the ball to the left of Washington Custódio, 1-1. In the 10th minute, Dito Palmeira got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Tostão Mendes took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Sílvio Tróia, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 21st minute, S. E. Triângulo's goalie took a deep sigh of relief after Douglas Capixaba fired away a hard shot that went just outside the left post. Douglas Capixaba struck a weak shot in the 32nd minute. Washington Custódio didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Rive. In the 36th minute, Dito Palmeira got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. If Caco Neto had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 37th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 43rd minute, Dito Palmeira ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Washington Custódio was frozen by the shot and now it was 2-1. Washington Custódio showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Olívio Negri in the 46th minute of the match. Rive's Olívio Negri got a good chance for a goal in the 47th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Olívio Negri was the one to do the kick off. When Olívio Negri came up free with the goalie in the 63rd minute, the Rive fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Olívio Negri couldn't finish the play. Luiz Breckenfeld fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 67th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Tostão Mendes having to interfere. A collision led to S. E. Triângulo getting a freekick after 69 minutes play. Edu Mineiro hit a great ball. Washington Custódio made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Caco Neto in the 70th minute of play. Sílvio Tróia sent away a hard shot on goal in the 73rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 74th match minute, Rive was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Edmílson Peixoto to maneuver through the defense. In the 76th minute Dito Palmeira shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Washington Custódio saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Edmílson Peixoto kicked well hit freekick during the 77th minute of the match. A collision led to S. E. Triângulo getting a freekick after 83 minutes play. Edu Mineiro hit a great ball. There was no doubt that Rive were the better team. Rive's players enjoyed the ovations of the crowd after the victory.
