The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Evandro Correia prevented the ball from getting in the gole. With a little luck, Pastorador's Albertinho Toledo got control of the ball when Walmyr Abreu tried to sneak it across the goal line. Daniel da Fonseca charged in rather forcefully in the 22nd minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Daniel da Fonseca the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. In the 23rd match minute, Pastorador was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Claudinei Cearense to maneuver through the defense. The supporters of Pastorador booed when Palmorindo was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 26 match minutes in a wonderful position. Daniel da Fonseca didn't get a good kick on the ball. After some fancy dribbling in the 26th minute, Claudinei Cearense managed to get in a good position for a shot. Pastorador's supporters rose to their feet, but Claudinei Cearense was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Evandro Correia breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. In the 27th minute, Henrique Vargas hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After having played for 29 minutes, Duarte de Souza managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Pastorador's supporters crossed their fingers, but Duarte de Souza was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Claudinei Cearense received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 30th minute. Evandro Correia tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. An unexpectedly hard shot by Claudinei Cearense in the 33rd minute of play forced Palmorindo's goalkeeper Evandro Correia to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Albertinho Toledo stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Elano de Almeida's shot from short distance in the 37th minute. Gabriel da Mata hit a great freekick 38 minutes into the match. In the 39th minute Elano de Almeida shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Albertinho Toledo saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After some careless play in the Palmorindo defense, Duarte de Souza kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Evandro Correia. The Palmorindo fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Evandro Correia should have stopped the shot. Walmyr Abreu fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 47th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Albertinho Toledo having to interfere.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Duarte de Souza made a kick off. Albertinho Toledo took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Walmyr Abreu, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 56th minute of the match Palmorindo got a corner. Pastorador's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Ernani Alves ran over to the corner to take the kick. After taking down the ball on Palmorindo's corner Ernani Alves fired away a hard shot, but the defenders efficiently covered the most dangerous angles and Albertinho Toledo quite easily take care of the ball. Walmyr Abreu received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 57th minute. Albertinho Toledo tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Palmorindo's Walmyr Abreu got a good chance for a goal in the 61st minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. The audience was convinced that Duarte de Souza's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Evandro Correia was relentless in the 66th minute of the game. Albertinho Toledo came out of the goal in the 68th minute to try and stop a shot by Palmorindo's Elano de Almeida. But to his dismay, Elano de Almeida quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-1. Mário Carneiro lost his temper 72 minutes into the game and shoved another player to the ground. He was immediately shown a red card. Albertinho Toledo took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Elano de Almeida, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 83 minutes into the game, Wiliam Oliveira was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Pastorador's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Palmorindo the free kick. After a rather tough play, Pastorador's Wiliam Oliveira got a free kick in the 83rd minute. Wiliam Oliveira could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 87th minute of the match, but Evandro Correia made a huge save. Daniel da Fonseca fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 91st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Albertinho Toledo having to interfere. After 93 played minutes Palmorindo got a freekick which was hit by Henrique Vargas. Pastorador's Wiliam Oliveira got a good chance for a goal in the 97th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar.
