Spectators: 7375 (Terracing: 5532, Seating: 1696, VIP seats: 147) Dark clouds were building up when the players entered the field. None of the them looked very eager to play. Urtsin Verges started the match with the kick off. In the 7th minute, Jânio Motta hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Emílio de Amorim showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Horácio Cruz in the 9th minute of the match. Urtsin Verges recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 12th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Ernesto Fernandez in the 18th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Beto Fantini prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Urtsin Verges sent away a hard shot on goal in the 25th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. When Luiz Paulo Couto fell near the penalty area in the 27th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Santo's protests and gave Luiz Paulo Couto a yellow card for diving instead. A collision led to Santo getting a freekick after 31 minutes play. Luiz Paulo Couto hit a great ball. After 31 played minutes, Guarapari do Esp. Santo's Guilherme Quirino shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Beto Fantini came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Guarapari do Esp. Santo reached it. Beto Fantini took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Ernesto Fernandez, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Beto Fantini made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Jânio Motta in the 40th minute of play. 42 minutes into the match, Santo's Urtsin Verges sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Emílio de Amorim narrowly saved just below the crossbar. If Horácio Cruz had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 44th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The score stood at 0-0 when the half time whistle went. Both sets of players seemed reasonably pleased with how the match was going.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Ernesto Fernandez made a kick off. Urtsin Verges sent away a hard shot on goal in the 54th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Ernesto Fernandez who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 57thth minute tested the skills of Beto Fantini when he managed to save the team from getting behind. A hard shot by Guilherme Quirino from long distance, 59 minutes into the match, got Beto Fantini's attention. Through a fast twist with his body, he could stop the ball from going in on his right side. After a rather tough play, Santo's Bernardinho Perez got a free kick in the 59th minute. If Ernesto Fernandez had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 63rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Guto Vidal's late challenge caught a Guarapari do Esp. Santo's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Guto Vidal helped the player get up and apologised. After 71 minutes Santo's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Guilherme Quirino who took care of the corner kick. A hard shot 73 in the game by Ernesto Fernandez from a close distance when the talented Beto Fantini managed to make a qualified save. Santo's players were relieved. When Jânio Motta came up free with the goalie in the 74th minute, the Guarapari do Esp. Santo fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Jânio Motta couldn't finish the play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Ernesto Fernandez in the 75th minute of play forced Santo's goalkeeper Beto Fantini to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Beto Fantini showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Ernesto Fernandez in the 86th minute of the match. In the 92nd match minute, Santo was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Urtsin Verges to maneuver through the defense. The final whistle blew with the score still tied, and both teams left the pitch thinking about the missed chances that could have given their team the win.
