With a little luck, Heliópolis FC's Claudinei Dantas got control of the ball when Horácio Santos tried to sneak it across the goal line. Claudinei Dantas was a little too slow when Carlinhos Lopez got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 11th minute. The score was now 1-0. Walmyr Matorin received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Claudinei Dantas came out and tried to block the shot, but Walmyr Matorin slotted it home off the left post making it 2-0 in the 14th minute. 18 minutes into the game, Horácio Santos cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 3-0. Claudinei Dantas was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. The crowd rose to their feet as Maleta's Horácio Santos slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Claudinei Dantas. That made the score 5-0 after 27 minutes of play. Claudinei Dantas didn't succeed in stopping the ball in the 29th minute, which inside left pole to 6-0. 36 minutes into the game, Maleta's Horácio Santos nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Claudinei Dantas made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 7-0. A collision led to Heliópolis FC getting a freekick after 40 minutes play. Diamantino Paulista hit a great ball. In the 44th minute, Horácio Santos ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Claudinei Dantas was frozen by the shot and now it was 8-0. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Horácio Santos was the one to do the kick off. When Maleta's Walmyr Matorin in the 51st minute got a chance for a shot 51st didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Heliópolis FC's goalie prevented a goal. After a rather tough play, Heliópolis FC's Diamantino Paulista got a free kick in the 51st minute. Claudinei Dantas took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Carlinhos Lopez, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 57th minute Horácio Santos collided with an opponent which caused him a fractured collar bone. Carlinhos Alvarenga's late challenge caught a Maleta's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Carlinhos Alvarenga helped the player get up and apologised. In the 57th minute, Carlinhos Alvarenga hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 59th minute, Carlinhos Lopez made a precise shot to the right of Claudinei Dantas. Heliópolis FC's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 9-0. In the 63rd minute, Heliópolis FC's Valdo de Lara dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 9-1. In the 68th minute Sandro Lucas shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Claudinei Dantas saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Walmyr Matorin in the 69th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Claudinei Dantas prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Maleta's Fausto Sá proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 77th minute of the match, managed to save Maleta from getting a goal against them. In the 78th minute, Walmyr Matorin hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Heliópolis FC's Claudinei Dantas played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Carlinhos Lopez in the 80th minute of play. After 81st play minutes Carlinhos Lopez shot 10-1, a short shot which went by Claudinei Dantas and just under the crossbar into goal. After 88 played minutes Maleta got a freekick which was hit by Armandinho Amaral. Maleta's supporters were delighted with their team's performance and swarmed onto the pitch at the end of the match to celebrate the victory with the players.
