Arlindo Travassos was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Arlindo Travassos showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Alfredinho Brodel, who was totally free with the ball in the 17th minute. Arlindo Travassos took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Olavo Braga, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. When Anderson Matorin came up free with the goalie in the 21st minute, the E.C. Itajaí fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Anderson Matorin couldn't finish the play. When Renan Veloso fell near the penalty area in the 24th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored E.C. Itajaí's protests and gave Renan Veloso a yellow card for diving instead. The supporters of Canoeiros booed when E.C. Itajaí was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 24 match minutes in a wonderful position. Renan Veloso didn't get a good kick on the ball. Anderson Arósio kicked well hit freekick during the 25th minute of the match. 27 minutes into the game, Luisinho Gaúcho was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Canoeiros's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave E.C. Itajaí the free kick. Renan Veloso was shown his second yellow card after 63 minutes, following a rather ugly tackle on opponent. That was the end of his participation in the match. In the 66th minute of the match Cleiton Nunes sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but João Augusto Custódio skillfully saved the ball. Alfredinho Brodel came free with the goalkeeper in the 68th minute of the match, and shot straight on target. The shot was a little too simple and Arlindo Travassos could save by the left post. In the 74th minute the ball was on its way in behind Canoeiros's goalkeeper Arlindo Travassos, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Arlindo Travassos was in the perfect position, and the defense had done a good job marking him, but Alfredinho Brodel showcased his skills and made a perfect shot to score 0-2 in the 75 minute of play. Alfredinho Brodels short, quick shot in the 79thth minute got Arlindo Travassos to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. The referee ignored Canoeiros's protests and gave Sidney Loyola a yellow card for diving instead. 83 minutes into the match, Canoeiros's goalkeeper Arlindo Travassos had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Alfredinho Brodel. In the 84th minute, E.C. Itajaí's Dorian de Souza dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 0-3. The crowd rose to their feet as Alfredinho Brodel kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Arlindo Travassos. That made the score 0-4 in the 87 minute of play. With an all-out effort, E.C. Itajaí's Arlindo Travassos threw himself towards the right post 94 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Jarbas Faria, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. After 95 played minutes E.C. Itajaí got a freekick which was hit by Alfredinho Brodel. E.C. Itajaí played a much better game than Canoeiros and deserved their victory. The Canoeiros players were clearly disappointed as they left the ground.
