Isaltino Melo could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 30th minute of the match, but Dida Medeiros made a huge save. The audience was convinced that Rony Paes's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but José Maria Azevedo was relentless in the 33rd minute of the game. Michel Soares's late challenge caught a Tabuleirao's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Michel Soares helped the player get up and apologised. Michel Soares kicked well hit freekick during the 40th minute of the match. After 44 minutes of play Muricizinho's Michel Soares was too eager in his attempt to stop his opponent and brought him down. With that he got his second yellow card and was ordered off the ground. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 4-1.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Naldo Soares to make the kick off. 52 minutes into the game, Rony Paes cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 4-2. José Maria Azevedo was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Ramiro Mello recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 60th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Lucas Aguiar hit a great freekick 65 minutes into the match. Dida Medeiros made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Naldo Soares in the 68th minute of play. Dida Medeiros didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Isaltino Melo went, in the 72nd minute, to the upper right corner, 5-2 was the resulting score. Dida Medeiros showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Naldo Soares, who was totally free with the ball in the 77th minute. If Rony Paes had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 85th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Rony Paes in the 88thth minute had a little luck and got a chance for a shot in front of the goal. Without hesitation aimed to the right of José Maria Azevedo, who managed to lunge to the right direction and made a save. Dida Medeiros took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Isaltino Melo, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side.
