The corner led Riachinho's Wellington Lopez to fire away a dangerous shot which Marcelinho Leite despite some difficulties managed to get hold on the ball. Joélson Proença might have been able to make a better finish in the 20th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Mário Miranda. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Joélson Proença ran back to his position shaking his head. The supporters of Eunapolitano FC booed when Riachinho was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 22 match minutes in a wonderful position. Alan Jacinto didn't get a good kick on the ball. Tadeu Paraibano hit a great freekick 24 minutes into the match. In the 25th minute, João Pedro Meirelles hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Ricardo Cabral in the 28th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Marcelinho Leite saved Eunapolitano FC from getting behind. In the 32nd minute of the match, Almir Pereira tried to roll the ball into the goal by the right post, but Mário Miranda saw his intentions and got control of the ball before it passed the line. The audience thought a goal was coming when Almir Pereira got free with Mário Miranda in the 43rd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. In the 46th match minute, Riachinho was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Wellington Lopez to maneuver through the defense. After the first half Riachinho were leading 0-1. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Almir Pereira to strike the kick off in the second half. The crowd rose to their feet as Wellington Lopez kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Marcelinho Leite. That made the score 0-2 in the 51 minute of play. 55 minutes in the game Tadeu Paraibano did a throw-in, and the ball was quickly in game thanks to Alan Jacinto. 56 minutes into the game, Artur Vinhas was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Eunapolitano FC's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Riachinho the free kick. In the 79th minute the ball was on its way in behind Riachinho's goalkeeper Mário Miranda, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar.
