Mário Miranda didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Romeu de Queiroz went, in the 21st minute, to the upper right corner, 1-1 was the resulting score. In the 24th match minute, Abismo SC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Elano de Moraes to maneuver through the defense. When Abismo SC's Romeu de Queiroz in the 39th minute got a chance for a shot 39th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. An unexpectedly hard shot by Anselmo Prata in the 48th minute of play forced Abismo SC's goalkeeper Belmiro Peres to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 1-2.

The wind increased when Anselmo Prata made the kick off in the second half. After a defensive mix-up in Abismo SC's zone, Anselmo Prata stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Belmiro Peres came out of the goal and Anselmo Prata tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Riachinho's Mário Miranda played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Jorge Nóbrega in the 65th minute of play. Ricardo Cabral received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 66th minute. Belmiro Peres tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 89th minute Jorge Nóbrega shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Mário Miranda saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 91st of the match, Jorge Nóbrega tried to place the ball in the upper right corner, but Mário Miranda got in the way and made a wonderful save.
