With a little luck, Boot FC's Délio das Neves got control of the ball when Víktor Messias tried to sneak it across the goal line. 20 minutes into the match, Fura bola FC's goal looked a bit too open when Tomás Vergílio came free, but Júlio Carioca reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 22nd minute, Paulão Fernandes hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 23rd minute, one of Fura bola FC:s players had the ball in front of the goal but got pushed and fell. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for Fura bola FC. Júlio Carioca was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Boot FC's Délio das Neves proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 37th minute of the match, managed to save Boot FC from getting a goal against them. A collision led to Boot FC getting a freekick after 38 minutes play. André Gerber hit a great ball. Víktor Messias sent away a hard shot on goal in the 39th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. 45 minutes into the match, Boot FC's goalkeeper Délio das Neves had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Víktor Messias. After 46 played minutes Boot FC got a freekick which was hit by Dedê Custódio. Víktor Messias struck a weak shot in the 47th minute. Délio das Neves didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Fura bola FC. After the first half Boot FC were leading 1-2. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Cássio da Silveira stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. The Boot FC fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Délio das Neves should have stopped the shot. Diego Hermes's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Délio das Neves read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 77th minute of play. Enrique Marinho's late challenge caught a Fura bola FC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. The supporters of Boot FC booed when Fura bola FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 88 match minutes in a wonderful position. Diego Hermes didn't get a good kick on the ball.
