He stayed cool and waited for the goalkeeper to move, before he confidently shot the ball into the goal, to the left of Júlio Carioca. 33 minutes into the game, Paulo Recife recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of Júlio Carioca. Paulo Recife showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 3-0. Paulo Recife could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 37th minute of the match, but Júlio Carioca made a huge save. 41 minutes into the match, Fura bola FC's goalkeeper Júlio Carioca had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Paulo Recife. Hélio Neiva made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Edgar do Vale in the 43rd minute of play. Paulo Recife fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 45th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Júlio Carioca having to interfere. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 3-0.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Paulo Recife to make the kick off. Paulo Recife might have been able to make a better finish in the 53rd minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Júlio Carioca. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Paulo Recife ran back to his position shaking his head. Generoso Gasteiz took the ball and in the 54 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Júlio Carioca. Júlio Carioca dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 4-0. Víktor Messias kicked well hit freekick during the 58th minute of the match. Júlio Carioca made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Paulo Recife in the 61st minute of play. When the match clock showed 64 minutes, the score became 5-0 when Paulo Recife sped through Fura bola FC's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Júlio Carioca. In the 67th minute, Paulo Recife made a precise shot to the right of Júlio Carioca. Fura bola FC's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 6-0. After 70 minutes, Edgar do Vale mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Fura bola FC and the Libertadores players grew even worse after the yellow card.
