Spectators: 7504 (Terracing: 5629, Seating: 1726, VIP seats: 149) The field was rather wet after several days of rain when Thomás Ramalho took the kick off in the first half of the match. If Jaime Quintal had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 6th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Nilmar Torres made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Dino da Rocha in the 7th minute of play. 8 minutes into the game, Jaime Quintal was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Independente FC's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Atlético Piauiense the free kick. After a rather tough play, Independente FC's Jaime Quintal got a free kick in the 8th minute. Thomás Ramalho took the ball and in the 12 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Ulisses Porto. Ulisses Porto dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-1. After 14 played minutes Atlético Piauiense got a freekick which was hit by Dino da Rocha. Jaime Quintal blasted a shot towards the goal in the 18th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Ulisses Porto having to make a save. Inácio Sergipano charged in rather forcefully in the 19th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Inácio Sergipano the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. After 19 played minutes Atlético Piauiense got a freekick which was hit by Inácio Sergipano. Ulisses Porto came out of the goal in the 20th minute to try and stop a shot by Independente FC's Luiz Guilherme Mendes. But to his dismay, Luiz Guilherme Mendes quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-2. The audience was convinced that Thomás Ramalho's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Ulisses Porto was relentless in the 26th minute of the game. An unexpected shot in the 30th minute by Renatinho de Sousa got the crowd on their feet, but to their dismay it went out on the left side. When Jaime Quintal came up free with the goalie in the 35th minute, the Independente FC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Jaime Quintal couldn't finish the play. Ulisses Porto came out of the goal in the 37th minute to try and stop a shot by Independente FC's Luiz Guilherme Mendes. But to his dismay, Luiz Guilherme Mendes quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-3. The referee blew the whistle for a penalty in the 41st minute of the game. One of Atlético Piauiense:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of Independente FC:s goal. Atlético Piauiense's Ulisses Porto played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Pedro Luís Valladares in the 45th minute of play.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Renatinho de Sousa stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. 51 minutes into the match, Independente FC's goal looked a bit too open when Renatinho de Sousa came free, but Nilmar Torres reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. A hard shot 54 in the game by Jaime Quintal from a close distance when the talented Ulisses Porto managed to make a qualified save. Atlético Piauiense's players were relieved. Cleiton Melo kicked well hit freekick during the 56th minute of the match. Luiz Guilherme Mendes fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 59th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Ulisses Porto having to interfere. Jaime Quintal sent away a hard shot on goal in the 63rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 71st minute Independente FC were awarded a corner. Jaime Quintal went to the cornerflag to take it. Jaime Quintal in the 75thth minute had a little luck and got a chance for a shot in front of the goal. Without hesitation aimed to the right of Ulisses Porto, who managed to lunge to the right direction and made a save. In the 76th minute, Dino da Rocha hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 77th minute, Independente FC's Aílton de Almeida dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 0-5. Nilmar Torres showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Cleiton Melo in the 86th minute of the match. The supporters of Atlético Piauiense booed when Independente FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 86 match minutes in a wonderful position. Guto Massa didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 88th minute of the match Genílson Zanette shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Nilmar Torres showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. Jaime Quintal recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 90th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Jaime Quintal sent away a hard shot on goal in the 93rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. When the final whistle sounded Independente FC left the ground with the victory after a much better performance than Atlético Piauiense.
