MICHELMI's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Afligidos the free kick. In the 3rd minute, Ernesto Lara hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Ulisses Schmidt kicked well hit freekick during the 5th minute of the match. When Ulisses Schmidt fell near the penalty area in the 7th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored MICHELMI's protests and gave Ulisses Schmidt a yellow card for diving instead. After a rather tough play, MICHELMI's Ulisses Schmidt got a free kick in the 7th minute. In the 11th minute, Carlos Alberto Araújo left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Afligidos fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 0-1. After 15 minutes, Elivélton Torres mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Afligidos and the MICHELMI players grew even worse after the yellow card. When Dário Travassos came up free with the goalie in the 17th minute, the Afligidos fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Dário Travassos couldn't finish the play. Samuel Coelho made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Zé Roberto Aguiar in the 20th minute of play. The audience thought a goal was coming when Ulisses Schmidt got free with Paulão Breckenfeld in the 23rd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. With a little luck, Afligidos's Paulão Breckenfeld got control of the ball when Ulysses de Mendonça tried to sneak it across the goal line. Carlos Alberto Araújo sent away a hard shot on goal in the 28th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Afligidos's supporters crossed their fingers, but Zé Roberto Aguiar was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Elivélton Torres received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 46th minute. Samuel Coelho tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The MICHELMI players were disheartened as they walked off the pitch after the first half. Afligidos were winning 0-1.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Zé Roberto Aguiar to make the kick off. After a defensive mix-up in MICHELMI's zone, Zé Roberto Aguiar stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Samuel Coelho came out of the goal and Zé Roberto Aguiar tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Oséias Secco hit a great freekick 53 minutes into the match. The supporters of MICHELMI booed when Afligidos was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 63 match minutes in a wonderful position. Benjamin Motta didn't get a good kick on the ball. 67 minutes into the match, Fernandinho Donatello had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Paulão Breckenfeld. Afligidos's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Fernandinho Donatello was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-1. Carlos Alberto Araújo sent away a hard shot on goal in the 71st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Dário Travassos struck a weak shot in the 88th minute. Samuel Coelho didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Afligidos. Fernandinho Donatello sent away a hard shot on goal in the 89th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Benjamin Motta during the 94th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. The supporters of MICHELMI booed when Afligidos was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 94 match minutes in a wonderful position. Benjamin Motta didn't get a good kick on the ball. Afligidos played a much better game than MICHELMI and deserved their victory. The MICHELMI players were clearly disappointed as they left the ground.
