The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. 4 minutes into the match, Monreal FC's goal looked a bit too open when Rafael Velloso came free, but Zé Carlos Lucas reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The supporters of Monreal FC booed when Jaraqui was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 5 match minutes in a wonderful position. Betinho Siqueira didn't get a good kick on the ball. 14 minutes into the game, Betinho Siqueira recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of Zé Carlos Lucas. Betinho Siqueira showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 1-1. 17 minutes into the match, Monreal FC's goalkeeper Zé Carlos Lucas had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Rafael Velloso. Jaraqui's Jardel Andrade got a good chance for a goal in the 19th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Zé Carlos Lucas was out of position in the 21 minute of play, and Jardel Andrade capitalized on the mistake with a soft shot into the goal. Jardel Andrade really showed his touch with that goal: 2-1. Zé Carlos Lucas made a fantastic save in the 25th minute, when Betinho Siqueira sent off a good shot on target. Betinho Siqueira could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 26th minute of the match, but Zé Carlos Lucas made a huge save. In the 27th match minute, Monreal FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Ademir Cerezo to maneuver through the defense. In the 32nd minute, Betinho Siqueira ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Zé Carlos Lucas was frozen by the shot and now it was 4-1. Monreal FC's Zé Carlos Lucas proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 39th minute of the match, managed to save Monreal FC from getting a goal against them. Zé Carlos Lucas was a little too slow when Jardel Andrade got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 44th minute. The score was now 5-1. The audience thought a goal was coming when Rafael Velloso got free with Zé Carlos Lucas in the 48th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 5-1.

The wind increased when Jardel Andrade made the kick off in the second half. After a rather tough play, Monreal FC's Artur Salgado got a free kick in the 55th minute. Zé Carlos Lucas took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Jardel Andrade, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Zé Carlos Lucas made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Betinho Siqueira in the 59th minute of play. Jardel Andrade took the ball and in the 62 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Zé Carlos Lucas. Zé Carlos Lucas dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 6-1. Monreal FC's Zé Carlos Lucas played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Betinho Siqueira in the 67th minute of play. Zé Carlos Lucas took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Betinho Siqueira, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 81 minutes into the game, Rafael Velloso cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 9-1. Zé Carlos Lucas was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Zé Carlos Lucas stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Jardel Andrade's shot from short distance in the 85th minute. Cícero Paranaense's late challenge caught a Jaraqui's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Cícero Paranaense helped the player get up and apologised. A collision led to Monreal FC getting a freekick after 87 minutes play. Cícero Paranaense hit a great ball. Zé Carlos Lucas showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Betinho Siqueira in the 96th minute of the match. Jaraqui walked away with a well-earned victory that was much celebrated by the crowd.
