In the 27th match minute, S.E. Cachoeirinha was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Lauro Moura to maneuver through the defense. Didi de Lima received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 28th minute. Ismael de Carvalho tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. If Edgard Marinho had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 33rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After having played for 38 minutes, João Francisco Dias managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Vasco Da Gama's supporters crossed their fingers, but João Francisco Dias was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. The supporters of Vasco Da Gama booed when S.E. Cachoeirinha was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 39 match minutes in a wonderful position. Hélder Proença didn't get a good kick on the ball. Elano Queiroz received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 42nd minute. Ismael de Carvalho tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 1-0.

Ismael de Carvalho made a fantastic save in the 58th minute, when Elano Queiroz sent off a good shot on target. In the 63rd minute, João Francisco Dias got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. 64 minutes into the game, João Carlos Reis was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. S.E. Cachoeirinha's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Vasco Da Gama the free kick. Hílton Alagoano kicked well hit freekick during the 74th minute of the match. After a rather tough play, Vasco Da Gama's Edmundo Galvão got a free kick in the 76th minute. Reginaldo Teixeira sent away a hard shot on goal in the 82nd minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Didi de Lima might have been able to make a better finish in the 84th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Ismael de Carvalho. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Didi de Lima ran back to his position shaking his head. In the 86th minute Didi de Lima shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Ismael de Carvalho saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 91st minute Fabinho Vinhas shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Valdir Braga saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Edgard Marinho fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 96th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Ismael de Carvalho having to interfere.
