When Oséas Veiga fell near the penalty area in the 11th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Exu's protests and gave Oséas Veiga a yellow card for diving instead. Oséas Veiga hit a great freekick 12 minutes into the match. If Carlos Augusto Maciel had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 17th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Carlos Augusto Maciel received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 19th minute. In the 37th minute, one of SPORT CLUB CAPIXABA:s players had the ball in front of the goal but got pushed and fell. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for SPORT CLUB CAPIXABA. Alexandre Leão fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 44th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Benê Chaves having to interfere. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 2-1.

If Edgar Lago had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 51st minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. In the 53rd match minute, Exu was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Emerson Freire to maneuver through the defense. Ricardinho da Mata recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 56th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. 57 minutes into the match, Carlos Augusto Maciel notched a goal, 2-2, to the right of SPORT CLUB CAPIXABA's Benê Chaves. Benê Chaves was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. If Carlos Augusto Maciel had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 63rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. A collision led to SPORT CLUB CAPIXABA getting a freekick after 64 minutes play. Ricardinho da Mata hit a great ball. Emerson Freire hit a great freekick 66 minutes into the match. Jeremias Gonçalves's shot straight on target was not completely harmless. The ball had pretty good speed, but Benê Chaves firmly grabbed it by the left post. In the 73rd minute, Edgar Lago made a precise shot to the right of Marcos Cabral. Exu's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 3-2. 77 minutes into the game, SPORT CLUB CAPIXABA's Cafu Barbosa nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Marcos Cabral made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 4-2. With a little luck, SPORT CLUB CAPIXABA's Benê Chaves got control of the ball when Jeremias Gonçalves tried to sneak it across the goal line. Marcos Cabral showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Cafu Barbosa in the 82nd minute of the match. After some careless play in the Exu defense, Cafu Barbosa kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Marcos Cabral. The Exu fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Marcos Cabral should have stopped the shot. Marcos Cabral showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Edgar Lago in the 90th minute of the match. After some fancy dribbling in the 93rd minute, Edgar Lago managed to get in a good position for a shot. SPORT CLUB CAPIXABA's supporters rose to their feet, but Edgar Lago was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Marcos Cabral breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. For all the effort they put into the match, the Exu players left disappointed. They had fought hard, but couldn't break down the home team's defense. The match ended in a win for SPORT CLUB CAPIXABA.
