The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. In the 3rd minute Conrado Sanches shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Valdir Campidelis saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Ronaldinho Aparecido's late challenge caught a Vitoria's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Valdir Campidelis made an important save on a dangerous shot by Natã Cunha in the 6th minute. Ondina SS's defense didn't have a chance, in the 12th minute, when Adilson Melo scored to the left of an out of position Valdir Campidelis, making the score, 2-0. In the 20th minute, Vitoria's Adilson Melo ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Valdir Campidelis. Valdir Campidelis yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 3-0. Paulão Meirelles kicked well hit freekick during the 26th minute of the match. After recieving a nice pass, Vitoria's Mazinho de Sousa tried to score from far away in the 27th minute, but the ball went over the crossbar. 30 minutes into the game, Nildo Sabóia was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Ondina SS's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Vitoria the free kick. Nildo Sabóia hit a great freekick 30 minutes into the match. Ondina SS's Valdir Campidelis played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Clóvis Catarinense in the 33rd minute of play. When the match had been going on for 37 minutes, Vitoria's Mazinho de Sousa got an opportunity to shoot a penalty. He stayed cool and waited for the goalkeeper to move, before he confidently shot the ball into the goal, to the left of Valdir Campidelis. If Natã Cunha had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 40th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Natã Cunha could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 41st minute of the match, but Valdir Campidelis made a huge save. Natã Cunha's shot straight on target was not completely harmless. The ball had pretty good speed, but Valdir Campidelis firmly grabbed it by the left post. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 4-0 at half-time.

The wind increased when Leonardo da Rocha made the kick off in the second half. The crowd rose to their feet as Leonardo da Rocha kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Bernardinho de Mendonça. That made the score 4-1 in the 52 minute of play. Yuri Lara came free with the goalkeeper in the 57th minute of the match, and shot straight on target. The shot was a little too simple and Bernardinho de Mendonça could save by the left post. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Leonardo da Rocha during the 60th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. After a rather tough play, Ondina SS's Leonardo da Rocha got a free kick in the 60th minute. When Adilson Melo came up free with the goalie in the 61st minute, the Vitoria fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Adilson Melo couldn't finish the play. In the 64th minute, Mazinho de Sousa hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Ondina SS's Valdir Campidelis played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Conrado Sanches in the 73rd minute of play. After 76 minutes of play, Vitoria's Adilson Melo made it 5-2 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Valdir Campidelis was left in no man's land by his defense there! Washington Negri charged in rather forcefully in the 81st minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Washington Negri the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. The supporters of Vitoria booed when Ondina SS was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 81 match minutes in a wonderful position. Washington Negri didn't get a good kick on the ball. Valdir Campidelis showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Natã Cunha, who was totally free with the ball in the 84th minute. Vitoria were awarded a corner in the 86th minute after Ondina SS's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Mazinho de Sousa took the corner. After 87 played minutes Ondina SS got a freekick which was hit by Yuri Lara. Mazinho de Sousa struck a weak shot in the 88th minute. Valdir Campidelis didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Vitoria. After 89 minutes of play Ondina SS's Ronaldinho Aparecido was too eager in his attempt to stop his opponent and brought him down. With that he got his second yellow card and was ordered off the ground. Ronaldinho Aparecido kicked well hit freekick during the 90th minute of the match. Valdir Campidelis showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Clóvis Catarinense in the 92nd minute of the match. In the 97th minute Ondina SS were awarded a corner. Yuri Lara went to the cornerflag to take it. The corner ended in Yuri Lara almost managing to get the ball behind the net, but Vitoria's Bernardinho de Mendonça did a great save. There was no doubt that Vitoria were the better team. Vitoria's players enjoyed the ovations of the crowd after the victory.
