Waldir Abreu made a fantastic save in the 3rd minute, when Allan Nascimento sent off a good shot on target. The Lea FC fans' excitement grew in the 5th match minute when Lea FC's Otávio Dante looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 1-0 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. A collision led to Sport Clube Lion getting a freekick after 10 minutes play. Anselmo Ortiz hit a great ball. In the 15th minute of the game, Allan Nascimento landed unfortunately after trying to head the ball, and pulled a muscle in the back, so badly that he had to leave the field. Lea FC's Everardo Olo was substituted for Allan Nascimento. The supporters of Lea FC booed when Sport Clube Lion was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 17 match minutes in a wonderful position. Anselmo Ortiz didn't get a good kick on the ball. Waldir Abreu took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Otávio Dante, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Ubaldo Poncio fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 19th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Waldir Abreu having to interfere. If Otávio Dante had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 23rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After having played for 25 minutes, Ubaldo Poncio managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Lea FC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Ubaldo Poncio was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Otávio Dante received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 26th minute. Waldir Abreu tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Waldir Abreu was out of position in the 29 minute of play, and Ubaldo Poncio capitalized on the mistake with a soft shot into the goal. Ubaldo Poncio really showed his touch with that goal: 3-0. Waldir Abreu made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Otávio Dante in the 34th minute of play. Otávio Dante sent away a hard shot on goal in the 35th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 37th minute, Ubaldo Poncio reached a very good position and smashed the ball with a huge effort into the net, just to the left of Waldir Abreu. The goal made the score 4-0. After a defensive mix-up in Sport Clube Lion's zone, Ubaldo Poncio stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Waldir Abreu came out of the goal and Ubaldo Poncio tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Through an outstanding action, after 42 minutes, Waldir Abreu successfully got his hands on the ball before it slid into the goal at the right post. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Otávio Dante in the 44th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Waldir Abreu prevented the ball from getting in the gole.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Reginaldo de Mendonça made a kick off. Ubaldo Poncio hit a great freekick 51 minutes into the match. After a defensive mix-up in Lea FC's zone, Reginaldo de Mendonça stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Luiz Fernando Teixeira came out of the goal and Reginaldo de Mendonça tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Otávio Dante hit a great freekick 55 minutes into the match. Otávio Dante succeeded in the game's 57th minute to shoot an unreachable shot under the crossbar and scored - 5-0. 60 minutes into the match, Lea FC's Ubaldo Poncio sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Waldir Abreu narrowly saved just below the crossbar. In the 64th minute, Ubaldo Poncio made a precise shot to the right of Waldir Abreu. Sport Clube Lion's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 6-0. When the match clock showed 68 minutes, the score became 7-0 when Otávio Dante sped through Sport Clube Lion's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Waldir Abreu. In the 71st minute, Anselmo Ortiz hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. When the match had gone on for 74 minutes, Otávio Dante put it in 8-0 from a short distance just to the right of Waldir Abreu. Lea FC's Hugo Bastos got a good chance for a goal in the 78th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Waldir Abreu stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Ubaldo Poncio's shot from short distance in the 89th minute. If Ubaldo Poncio had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 89th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 97 minutes into the match, Sport Clube Lion's goal looked a bit too open when Hugo Bastos came free, but Waldir Abreu reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Lea FC walked away with a well-earned victory that was much celebrated by the crowd.
