The referee ignored Palmeiras's protests and gave Lauro Quirino a yellow card for diving instead. A collision led to Palmeiras getting a freekick after 23 minutes play. Lauro Quirino hit a great ball. In the 25th minute, Ademar Nogueira hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 26th minute of the match Geovânio Rezende shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Vítor Prata showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. Vítor Prata took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Ediberto Albuquerque, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Vítor Prata showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Ediberto Albuquerque in the 27th minute of the match. An unexpectedly hard shot by Ulisses de Senna in the 29th minute of play forced Santos FC's goalkeeper Deivid Damião to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. When Ediberto Albuquerque came up free with the goalie in the 98th minute, the Santos FC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Ediberto Albuquerque couldn't finish the play. The home crowd let out a huge roar when the referee blew for the end of the game. Santos FC were victorious despite being under pressure from Palmeiras for much of the match.
