After a defensive mix-up in Turma do Funil's zone, Durval Mattos stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Celso Sanches came out of the goal and Durval Mattos tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. 11 minutes into the match, Turma do Funil's goalkeeper Celso Sanches had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Hernani Rodrigues. 12 minutes into the game, Capinas AD's Hernani Rodrigues nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Celso Sanches made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 2-0. Hernani Rodrigues could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 15th minute of the match, but Celso Sanches made a huge save. Cristóvão Simões charged in rather forcefully in the 17th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Cristóvão Simões the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. After a rather tough play, Turma do Funil's Cristóvão Simões got a free kick in the 17th minute. In the 18th minute, Turma do Funil's goalie took a deep sigh of relief after Hernani Rodrigues fired away a hard shot that went just outside the left post. Elivélton Porto hit a great freekick 21 minutes into the match. After 23 minutes of play, Turma do Funil's Cafu Quintal made it 2-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Bruninho Macedo was left in no man's land by his defense there! The audience thought a goal was coming when Hernani Rodrigues got free with Celso Sanches in the 34th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. If Enio Valadares had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 35th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After some careless play in the Turma do Funil defense, Flavinho Alves kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Celso Sanches. The Turma do Funil fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Celso Sanches should have stopped the shot. When Enio Valadares came up free with the goalie in the 41st minute, the Capinas AD fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Enio Valadares couldn't finish the play. Turma do Funil's Celso Sanches played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Elivélton Porto in the 42nd minute of play. 45 minutes into the match, Turma do Funil's goalkeeper Celso Sanches had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Hernani Rodrigues. Through an outstanding action, after 46 minutes, Celso Sanches successfully got his hands on the ball before it slid into the goal at the right post. The supporters of Turma do Funil booed when Capinas AD was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 47 match minutes in a wonderful position. Olavo de Almeida didn't get a good kick on the ball. Arí Barbosa recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 48th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Elivélton Porto was the one to do the kick off. Celso Sanches showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Hernani Rodrigues, who was totally free with the ball in the 53rd minute. Celso Sanches showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Hernani Rodrigues in the 55th minute of the match. A collision led to Turma do Funil getting a freekick after 59 minutes play. Arí Barbosa hit a great ball. When Luiz Fábio Viana fell near the penalty area in the 66th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Turma do Funil's protests and gave Luiz Fábio Viana a yellow card for diving instead. Luiz Fábio Viana hit a great freekick 66 minutes into the match. Elivélton Porto struck a weak shot in the 67th minute. Celso Sanches didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Capinas AD. Celso Sanches took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Hernani Rodrigues, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Celso Sanches didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Elivélton Porto went, in the 69th minute, to the upper right corner, 7-1 was the resulting score. Celso Sanches showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Elivélton Porto in the 73rd minute of the match. Elivélton Porto kicked well hit freekick during the 77th minute of the match. After 79 played minutes Turma do Funil got a freekick which was hit by Marcos Pimenta. 87 minutes into the match, Turma do Funil's goal looked a bit too open when Hernani Rodrigues came free, but Celso Sanches reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 89th minute Hernani Rodrigues shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Celso Sanches saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line.
