After some fancy dribbling in the 10th minute, Celsinho Mattos managed to get in a good position for a shot. E.C Foz Do Iguaçu's supporters rose to their feet, but Celsinho Mattos was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Doni Ramalho breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Ramiro Dante came free with the goalkeeper in the 13th minute of the match, and shot straight on target. The shot was a little too simple and Dário Cavalcante could save by the left post. Dedé Meira sent away a hard shot on goal in the 19th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The supporters of Umbuzeiro booed when E.C Foz Do Iguaçu was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 23 match minutes in a wonderful position. Valdo Paiva didn't get a good kick on the ball. With an all-out effort, Umbuzeiro's Dário Cavalcante threw himself towards the right post 26 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Frank Camargo, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. Álvaro Lima scored 1-0 in the 27th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Dário Cavalcante, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. A very good chance for a goal. 47 minutes into the game, Pedro Vasconcelos was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Umbuzeiro's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave E.C Foz Do Iguaçu the free kick. A collision led to Umbuzeiro getting a freekick after 47 minutes play. In the 57th minute Bernardinho Siqueira shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Dário Cavalcante saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. If Celsinho Mattos had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 66th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. E.C Foz Do Iguaçu's Dário Cavalcante played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Bernardinho Siqueira in the 72nd minute of play. In the 73rd minute, Alessandro Neiva hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Doni Ramalho took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Alessandro Neiva, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After a rather tough play, Umbuzeiro's Pedro Vasconcelos got a free kick in the 78th minute. In the 79th minute, Rubens Pernambucano hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. When Bernardinho Siqueira came up free with the goalie in the 85th minute, the Umbuzeiro fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Bernardinho Siqueira couldn't finish the play.
