The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Luiz Fábio Viana during the 13th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. After a rather tough play, Turma do Funil's Luiz Fábio Viana got a free kick in the 13th minute. Celso Sanches came out of the goal in the 16th minute to try and stop a shot by Umbuzeiro's Ramiro Dante. But to his dismay, Ramiro Dante quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-2. When Álvaro Lima fell near the penalty area in the 20th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Umbuzeiro's protests and gave Álvaro Lima a yellow card for diving instead. The supporters of Turma do Funil booed when Umbuzeiro was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 20 match minutes in a wonderful position. Álvaro Lima didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 21st minute, Turma do Funil's Cafu Quintal ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Doni Ramalho. Doni Ramalho yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 1-2. Arí Barbosa's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Doni Ramalho read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 27th minute of play. Celso Sanches showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Ramiro Dante in the 30th minute of the match. In the 31st minute, Cafu Quintal got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Umbuzeiro's Frank Camargo got a good chance for a goal in the 32nd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. After 33 played minutes Umbuzeiro got a freekick which was hit by Tarcisio Azevedo. In the 35th minute, Cafu Quintal got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Frank Camargo fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 37th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Celso Sanches having to interfere. Celso Sanches took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Frank Camargo, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Wesley Lopes's late challenge caught a Turma do Funil's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Wesley Lopes helped the player get up and apologised. In the 40th minute, one of Umbuzeiro:s players had the ball in front of the goal but got pushed and fell. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for Umbuzeiro. After a rather tough play, Umbuzeiro's Bernardinho Siqueira got a free kick in the 45th minute. The fans had the chance to grab some refreshments as the whistle went for half-time. The score stood at 2-2 after a close first half.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Arí Barbosa made a kick off. Turma do Funil's Celso Sanches proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 52nd minute of the match, managed to save Turma do Funil from getting a goal against them. Doni Ramalho showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Frédson Peres in the 58th minute of the match. Celso Sanches made a fantastic save in the 59th minute, when Ramiro Dante sent off a good shot on target. In the 60th minute, Adelino Gerber hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Celso Sanches made a fantastic save in the 63rd minute, when Ramiro Dante sent off a good shot on target. After having played for 82 minutes, Ramiro Dante managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Umbuzeiro's supporters crossed their fingers, but Ramiro Dante was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. 84 minutes into the match, Bernardinho Siqueira notched a goal, 2-4, to the right of Turma do Funil's Celso Sanches. Celso Sanches was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. 87 minutes into the match, Turma do Funil's goal looked a bit too open when Frank Camargo came free, but Celso Sanches reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Turma do Funil's Celso Sanches proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 89th minute of the match, managed to save Turma do Funil from getting a goal against them. An unexpectedly hard shot by Pedro Vasconcelos in the 92nd minute of play forced Turma do Funil's goalkeeper Celso Sanches to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Cafu Quintal struck a weak shot in the 94th minute. Doni Ramalho didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Turma do Funil. When the final whistle was heard the away supporters stood up and showed their joy. Umbuzeiro had managed to secure a win in what was a close match throughout.
