The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. E.C Foz Do Iguaçu's Dário Cavalcante played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Marcos Paulista in the 3rd minute of play. The audience was convinced that Laerte Vargas's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Dário Cavalcante was relentless in the 4th minute of the game. In the 5th minute Marcos Paulista shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Dário Cavalcante saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Dário Cavalcante showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Zé Paulo Albuquerque in the 8th minute of the match. Davi Marinho hit a great freekick 10 minutes into the match. Alessandro Alvarenga was a little too slow when Celsinho Mattos got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 11th minute. The score was now 1-0. When Dedé Meira came up free with the goalie in the 16th minute, the E.C Foz Do Iguaçu fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Dedé Meira couldn't finish the play. Celsinho Mattos sent away a hard shot on goal in the 17th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Alessandro Alvarenga took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Celsinho Mattos, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The audience thought a goal was coming when Rubens Pernambucano got free with Alessandro Alvarenga in the 21st minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. The supporters of E.C Foz Do Iguaçu booed when ITUIUTABA FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 22 match minutes in a wonderful position. Zé Paulo Albuquerque didn't get a good kick on the ball. Alessandro Alvarenga was out of position in the 25 minute of play, and Celsinho Mattos capitalized on the mistake with a soft shot into the goal. Celsinho Mattos really showed his touch with that goal: 2-0. After 29 minutes of play, ITUIUTABA FC's Marcos Paulista made it 2-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Dário Cavalcante was left in no man's land by his defense there! Dário Cavalcante showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Laerte Vargas, who was totally free with the ball in the 32nd minute. Marcos Paulista received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 36th minute. Dário Cavalcante tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After some careless play in the E.C Foz Do Iguaçu defense, Marcos Paulista kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Dário Cavalcante. The E.C Foz Do Iguaçu fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Dário Cavalcante should have stopped the shot. Laerte Vargas took the ball and in the 46 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Dário Cavalcante. Dário Cavalcante dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 2-3. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 2-3.

Marcos Paulista's shot straight on target was not completely harmless. The ball had pretty good speed, but Dário Cavalcante firmly grabbed it by the left post. Dário Cavalcante showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Laerte Vargas in the 59th minute of the match. When the match had gone on for 61 minutes, Laerte Vargas took a quick shot and it went in 2-4 without a chance for Dário Cavalcante to make any attempt to save it. An unexpectedly hard shot by Celsinho Mattos in the 65th minute of play forced ITUIUTABA FC's goalkeeper Alessandro Alvarenga to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Walmir Vergílio received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 67th minute. Dário Cavalcante tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Arthur de Alcântara fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 69th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Dário Cavalcante having to interfere. E.C Foz Do Iguaçu's Dário Cavalcante proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 72nd minute of the match, managed to save E.C Foz Do Iguaçu from getting a goal against them. Laerte Vargas showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 2-5. Valdo Paiva kicked well hit freekick during the 80th minute of the match. E.C Foz Do Iguaçu's goalkeeper couldn't reach when Laerte Vargas 81 minutes into the game got a good kick on the ball which found its way into goal just inside left pole. 2-6. Rubens Pernambucano hit a great freekick 89 minutes into the match. Zé Paulo Albuquerque took the ball and in the 94 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Dário Cavalcante. Dário Cavalcante dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 2-7.
