The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Nuno Botelho scored 1-0 in the 4th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Hélder do Valle, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. The audience was convinced that Antônio Carlos Vinhas's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Renan Cavalcante was relentless in the 7th minute of the game. Sao Paulo CE's Raphael Trigo pulled a muscle in his back after 11 minutes and couldn't finish the game. When Leonardo Borges fell near the penalty area in the 11th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored São Lourenço FC's protests and gave Leonardo Borges a yellow card for diving instead. The supporters of Sao Paulo CE booed when São Lourenço FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 12 match minutes in a wonderful position. Leonardo Borges didn't get a good kick on the ball. Bernardo de Queiroz struck a weak shot in the 13th minute. Hélder do Valle didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Sao Paulo CE. Dráuzio Bittencourt kicked well hit freekick during the 14th minute of the match. In the 19th minute, Nuno Botelho got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Sao Paulo CE's Gualter Medeiros got a good chance for a goal in the 20th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Nuno Botelho received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Hélder do Valle came out and tried to block the shot, but Nuno Botelho slotted it home off the left post making it 2-0 in the 22nd minute. Sao Paulo CE were awarded a corner in the 27th minute after São Lourenço FC's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Bernardo de Queiroz took the corner. A nice corner shot did that Bernardo de Queiroz got away a dangerous shot. Despite this Hélder do Valle quite easily got ahold of the ball to make the save. Antônio Carlos Vinhas fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 29th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Renan Cavalcante having to interfere. 33 minutes into the game, Sao Paulo CE's Nuno Botelho nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Hélder do Valle made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 3-0. Nuno Botelho recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 41st minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. In the 42nd minute, Gualter Medeiros got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. In the 44th minute, Arí Leão got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Nuno Botelho's shot straight on target was not completely harmless. The ball had pretty good speed, but Hélder do Valle firmly grabbed it by the left post.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Nuno Botelho to strike the kick off in the second half. After 53 minutes of play, Sao Paulo CE's Nuno Botelho made it 4-0 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Hélder do Valle was left in no man's land by his defense there! Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Nuno Botelho in the 59th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Hélder do Valle prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Gualter Medeiros sent away a hard shot on goal in the 60th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Hélder do Valle didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Guto Arce went, in the 63rd minute, to the upper right corner, 5-0 was the resulting score. Sao Paulo CE's Renan Cavalcante played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Antônio Carlos Vinhas in the 70th minute of play. Tarcisio dos Santos struck a weak shot in the 71st minute. Renan Cavalcante didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for São Lourenço FC. Tarcisio dos Santos's late challenge caught a Sao Paulo CE's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Tarcisio dos Santos helped the player get up and apologised. Tarcisio dos Santos kicked well hit freekick during the 75th minute of the match. An unexpectedly hard shot by Nuno Botelho in the 80th minute of play forced São Lourenço FC's goalkeeper Hélder do Valle to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. If Arí Leão had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 81st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Nuno Botelho took the ball and in the 82 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Hélder do Valle. Hélder do Valle dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 6-0. 90 minutes into the match, São Lourenço FC's goal looked a bit too open when Nuno Botelho came free, but Hélder do Valle reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Josué Matos kicked well hit freekick during the 91st minute of the match. Arí Leão hit a great freekick 93 minutes into the match. Renan Cavalcante made an important save on a dangerous shot by Tarcisio dos Santos in the 95th minute. Sao Paulo CE's supporters were delighted with their team's performance and swarmed onto the pitch at the end of the match to celebrate the victory with the players.
