The mood of the audience was pleasant when Luís Fernando Arruda made the kick off which started today's match. 7 minutes into the game, Nuno Botelho was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Sao Paulo CE's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Ibrahy AD the free kick. In the 8th match minute, Sao Paulo CE was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Nuno Botelho to maneuver through the defense. Carlos Augusto Vidal who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 11thth minute tested the skills of Renan Cavalcante when he managed to save the team from getting behind. When Nuno Botelho came up free with the goalie in the 13th minute, the Sao Paulo CE fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Nuno Botelho couldn't finish the play. Sao Paulo CE were furious when Fábio Dracena was red carded, 15 minutes into the game, but the referee dismissed their protests. In the 15th minute, one of Sao Paulo CE:s players had the ball in front of the goal but got pushed and fell. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for Sao Paulo CE. Benjamim Teles took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Raphael Trigo, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Sao Paulo CE's Nuno Botelho got a good chance for a goal in the 23rd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Nuno Botelho sent away a hard shot on goal in the 27th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Ibrahy AD's Benjamim Teles played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Raphael Trigo in the 35th minute of play. 37 minutes into the game, Guto Arce was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Sao Paulo CE's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Ibrahy AD the free kick. Sao Paulo CE's defense didn't have a chance, in the 44th minute, when Carlos Augusto Vidal scored to the left of an out of position Renan Cavalcante, making the score, 2-1. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

Luís Fernando Arruda fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 56th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Renan Cavalcante having to interfere. Renan Cavalcante showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Carlos Augusto Vidal in the 59th minute of the match. Luís Fernando Arruda's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Renan Cavalcante read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 60th minute of play. Gualter Medeiros hit a great freekick 61 minutes into the match. When Nuno Botelho came up free with the goalie in the 64th minute, the Sao Paulo CE fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Nuno Botelho couldn't finish the play. Luís Fernando Arruda received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 69th minute. Renan Cavalcante tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Carlos Augusto Vidal in the 72nd managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Renan Cavalcante saved Sao Paulo CE from getting behind. Nuno Botelho sent away a hard shot on goal in the 76th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. If Raphael Trigo had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 79th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 87 minutes into the game, Ernani de Sousa was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Ibrahy AD's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Sao Paulo CE the free kick. After some fancy dribbling in the 89th minute, Luís Fernando Arruda managed to get in a good position for a shot. Ibrahy AD's supporters rose to their feet, but Luís Fernando Arruda was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Renan Cavalcante breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. The audience thought a goal was coming when Nuno Botelho got free with Benjamim Teles in the 94th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. If Gualter Medeiros had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 96th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The Ibrahy AD support was delighted with a win in a match that could easily have ended differently.
