Celsinho Macedo recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 4th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Antônio Carlos Vinhas sent away a hard shot on goal in the 7th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After some careless play in the Goiás Esporte Clube defense, Antônio Carlos Vinhas kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Christiano Marques. The Goiás Esporte Clube fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Christiano Marques should have stopped the shot. Edgard Arce lost his temper 13 minutes into the game and shoved another player to the ground. He was immediately shown a red card. 12 minutes into the game, one of São Lourenço FC:s players got tackled near the goal, and the referee blew for a penalty. Basílio Perez's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Hélder do Valle read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 30th minute of play. Celsinho Macedos short, quick shot in the 36thth minute got Hélder do Valle to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. After a defensive mix-up in São Lourenço FC's zone, Allan Costa stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Hélder do Valle came out of the goal and Allan Costa tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. After a rather tough play, Goiás Esporte Clube's Zé Pedro da Mata got a free kick in the 40th minute. In the 43rd minute of the match, Celsinho Macedo tried to roll the ball into the goal by the right post, but Hélder do Valle saw his intentions and got control of the ball before it passed the line. In the 45th minute Goiás Esporte Clube were awarded a corner. Eugênio Tróia went to the cornerflag to take it. If Basílio Perez had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 47th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Tarcisio dos Santos to make the kick off. Allan Costa hit a great freekick 54 minutes into the match. Celsinho Macedo sent away a hard shot on goal in the 60th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. A collision led to Goiás Esporte Clube getting a freekick after 71 minutes play. Arthur Aguiar hit a great ball. Celsinho Macedo fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 77th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Hélder do Valle having to interfere. Goiás Esporte Clube's Allan Costa got a good chance for a goal in the 78th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Goiás Esporte Clube's Celsinho Macedo got a good chance for a goal in the 81st minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. 85 minutes into the match, São Lourenço FC's goal looked a bit too open when Celsinho Macedo came free, but Hélder do Valle reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After some fancy dribbling in the 86th minute, Basílio Perez managed to get in a good position for a shot. Goiás Esporte Clube's supporters rose to their feet, but Basílio Perez was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Hélder do Valle breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Tarcisio dos Santos received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 89th minute. Christiano Marques tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Goiás Esporte Clube were disappointed that they only managed a draw, even though they felt themselves to be the better team.
