Ismael de Barros came out of the goal and Enéas Almeida tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Ismael de Barros showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Gil Azevedo, who was totally free with the ball in the 15th minute. When Adelino Andrade fell near the penalty area in the 15th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Corinthians's protests and gave Adelino Andrade a yellow card for diving instead. In the 15th minute, Adelino Andrade hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Gil Azevedo in the 18th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Ismael de Barros saved Corinthians from getting behind. The supporters of Corinthians booed when Brasília FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 26 match minutes in a wonderful position. Armandinho Luz didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 27th minute Durval Miranda shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Rui Barbosa saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 31 minutes into the match, Corinthians's goal looked a bit too open when Enéas Almeida came free, but Ismael de Barros reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 35th minute Wanderson Terra shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Ismael de Barros saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After 46 played minutes Corinthians got a freekick which was hit by Basílio Gaspar. After 47 played minutes, Brasília FC's Narciso Passos shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Ismael de Barros came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Brasília FC reached it. Af the end of the first half the score was 1-0. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.

The wind increased when Gil Azevedo made the kick off in the second half. In the 52nd match minute, Brasília FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Narciso Passos to maneuver through the defense. 53 minutes into the game, Ronaldinho Cavalcante was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Corinthians's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Brasília FC the free kick. An unexpectedly hard shot by Gil Azevedo in the 60th minute of play forced Corinthians's goalkeeper Ismael de Barros to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Ismael de Barros showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Gil Azevedo in the 61st minute of the match. Gil Azevedo received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 75th minute. Ismael de Barros tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere.
