The audience thought a goal was coming when Ronaldão Guedes got free with Acácio Catarinense in the 13th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. After some fancy dribbling in the 14th minute, Benjamin da Rocha managed to get in a good position for a shot. Irajai's supporters rose to their feet, but Benjamin da Rocha was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Acácio Catarinense breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Rômulo de Medeiros's shot straight on target was not completely harmless. The ball had pretty good speed, but Acácio Catarinense firmly grabbed it by the left post. Ronaldão Guedes did some fancy footwork in front of goal and succeeded to deceive the defenders so he could slam the ball in 1-0 to the left of a surprised Acácio Catarinense 26 minutes into the match. In the 30th minute Benjamin da Rocha shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Acácio Catarinense saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Hélio Teles's late challenge caught a União da Mata's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Acácio Catarinense made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Ronaldão Guedes in the 75th minute of play. After a defensive mix-up in União da Mata's zone, Ronaldão Guedes stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Acácio Catarinense came out of the goal and Ronaldão Guedes tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. União da Mata's Acácio Catarinense played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Ronaldão Guedes in the 81st minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Ronaldão Guedes in the 85th minute of play forced União da Mata's goalkeeper Acácio Catarinense to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Benjamin da Rocha recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 85th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. The supporters of Irajai booed when União da Mata was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 86 match minutes in a wonderful position. Jefferson Ortiz didn't get a good kick on the ball. 88 minutes into the match, União da Mata's goal looked a bit too open when Benjamin da Rocha came free, but Acácio Catarinense reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. União da Mata's Acácio Catarinense played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Ronaldão Guedes in the 96th minute of play. União da Mata's players left the field with heads hung low after losing a match that had been finely balanced throughout.
