The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Flavinho Pontes showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Chiquinho Berger, who was totally free with the ball in the 4th minute. In the 5th minute, Cacabu AD's Valdemar Torres ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Tião Veloso. After 8 minutes of play, Ferraz's Adilson Nascimento made it 1-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Flavinho Pontes was left in no man's land by his defense there! After 11 played minutes Cacabu AD got a freekick which was hit by Valdemar Torres. After a rather tough play, Cacabu AD's Jaime Alvarenga got a free kick in the 12th minute. Adilson Nascimento struck a weak shot in the 19th minute. Flavinho Pontes didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Ferraz. Flavinho Pontes stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Adilson Nascimento's shot from short distance in the 21st minute. In the 22nd minute Chiquinho Berger shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Flavinho Pontes saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. With 24 minutes on the clock, Ulysses Pereira commited a dangerous tackle. The referee had no choice but to show him the red card. In the 23rd minute, one of Cacabu AD:s players had the ball in front of the goal but got pushed and fell. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for Cacabu AD. The referee gave Ferraz a penalty, 26 minutes into the game. The penalty shot was made by Dário Branco, who made a well placed shot into the net to the right of Cacabu AD's Flavinho Pontes. 1-2. After having played for 28 minutes, Chiquinho Berger managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Ferraz's supporters crossed their fingers, but Chiquinho Berger was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Flavinho Pontes showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Dedé Lucas in the 46th minute of the match. After the first half Ferraz were leading 1-3. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Adilson Nascimento was the one to do the kick off. Cacabu AD's Flavinho Pontes played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Adilson Nascimento in the 56th minute of play. Flavinho Pontes showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Adilson Nascimento in the 58th minute of the match. Jaime Alvarenga hit a great freekick 58 minutes into the match. When the match had gone on for 60 minutes, Adilson Nascimento took a quick shot and it went in 1-5 without a chance for Flavinho Pontes to make any attempt to save it. 72 minutes into the match, Ferraz's Adilson Nascimento sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Flavinho Pontes narrowly saved just below the crossbar. If Amílton Breckenfeld had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 73rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 75th minute, Valdemar Torres hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Adilson Nascimento might have been able to make a better finish in the 78th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Flavinho Pontes. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Adilson Nascimento ran back to his position shaking his head. A well placed Adilson Nascimento short distance shot in the 79th minute ended with a hard ball which without a chance for the goalkeeper went staright up into the goalkeepers left cross. 87 minutes into the match, Ferraz's goal looked a bit too open when Amílton Breckenfeld came free, but Tião Veloso reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. A collision led to Ferraz getting a freekick after 87 minutes play. Flávio Capixaba hit a great ball. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Adilson Nascimento in the 92nd managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Flavinho Pontes saved Cacabu AD from getting behind. After a rather tough play, Ferraz's Maurinho Paiva got a free kick in the 94th minute.
