In the 12th minute Isaltino Trigo shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Nilson de Azevedo saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 15th minute, Murilo Cordeiro made a precise shot to the right of Ernani das Neves. Winners Football Club's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 2-0. 20 minutes into the match, Ibirataia's goal looked a bit too open when Isaltino Trigo came free, but Nilson de Azevedo reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Murilo Cordeiros short, quick shot in the 38thth minute got Ernani das Neves to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. After having played for 39 minutes, Celsinho Maranhense managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Winners Football Club's supporters crossed their fingers, but Celsinho Maranhense was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. After a rather tough play, Ibirataia's Dudu Tróia got a free kick in the 41st minute. 42 minutes into the match, Winners Football Club's Amadeu Custódio broke free and took a long shot that unfortunately flew wide. A fine initiative that could have resulted in a goal. In the 45th minute of the match Amílton Braga sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Ernani das Neves skillfully saved the ball. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 2-0 at half-time.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Isaltino Trigo made a kick off. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Alberto Ortiz during the 51st minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. The supporters of Ibirataia booed when Winners Football Club was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 52 match minutes in a wonderful position. Ernani das Neves dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 3-2. It was no surprise that this one had ended in a win for the home team. Ibirataia had played much better football throughout.
