Novo Hamburgo SA were furious when Anísio do Valle was red carded, 5 minutes into the game, but the referee dismissed their protests. When the match had been going on for 6 minutes, Buenoia FC's Alessandro Paiva got an opportunity to shoot a penalty. He stayed cool and waited for the goalkeeper to move, before he confidently shot the ball into the goal, to the left of Gerson Bittencourt. An unexpectedly hard shot by Marcinho Netto in the 9th minute of play forced Buenoia FC's goalkeeper Geovani Pires to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Wilson Paraíba fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 13th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Geovani Pires having to interfere. Marcinho Netto received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 16th minute. Geovani Pires tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 22nd minute Marcinho Netto shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Geovani Pires saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Geovani Pires showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Silvinho Araújo, who was totally free with the ball in the 23rd minute. Marcinho Netto fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 25th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Geovani Pires having to interfere. Wilson Paraíba made in the 28th minute of the game a fairly good throw-in which was taken care of by Marcinho Netto. In the 31st minute Olavo Carvalho shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Gerson Bittencourt saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 40 minutes into the game, Wilson Paraíba threw the ball into play from the sideline. Buenoia FC's Olavo Carvalho quickly snatched the ball and retained possesion. In the 42nd minute of the game Wilson Paraíba made a throw-in which Marcinho Netto played forward. An unexpectedly hard shot by Didi Vale in the 43rd minute of play forced Novo Hamburgo SA's goalkeeper Gerson Bittencourt to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Gerson Bittencourt didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Zeca Costa went, in the 45th minute, to the upper right corner, 2-0 was the resulting score. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 2-0 at half-time.

Gerson Bittencourt showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Olavo Carvalho in the 53rd minute of the match. When Daniel Siggman fell near the penalty area in the 55th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Novo Hamburgo SA's protests and gave Daniel Siggman a yellow card for diving instead. Novo Hamburgo SA's Gerson Bittencourt played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Zeca Costa in the 61st minute of play. Gerson Bittencourt took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Olavo Carvalho, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Olavo Carvalho scored 3-0 in the 66th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Gerson Bittencourt, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. After 72 played minutes Novo Hamburgo SA got a freekick which was hit by Silvinho Araújo. 74 minutes into the match, Novo Hamburgo SA's goal looked a bit too open when Zeca Costa came free, but Gerson Bittencourt reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After a defensive mix-up in Buenoia FC's zone, Marcinho Netto stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Geovani Pires came out of the goal and Marcinho Netto tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. In the 81st match minute, Buenoia FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Zeca Costa to maneuver through the defense. A collision led to Novo Hamburgo SA getting a freekick after 83 minutes play. Hermínio Pinho hit a great ball. If Juninho Dias had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 85th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. When Silvinho Araújo fell near the penalty area in the 87th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Novo Hamburgo SA's protests and gave Silvinho Araújo a yellow card for diving instead. After 88 played minutes Novo Hamburgo SA got a freekick which was hit by Silvinho Araújo. Anísio Soares fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 90th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Gerson Bittencourt having to interfere. If Marcinho Netto had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 92nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Acácio Lara charged in rather forcefully in the 96th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Acácio Lara the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. A collision led to Buenoia FC getting a freekick after 96 minutes play. Acácio Lara hit a great ball. The crowd rose to their feet and cheered when the referee blew the final whistle. Buenoia FC had won after a very even match.
