In the 20th minute, Gilmar Tróia made a precise shot to the right of Oscar Leite. Lobos do Cerrado's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 0-1. Wilson Chaves struck a weak shot in the 23rd minute. Clóvis Machado didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Lobos do Cerrado. Clóvis Machado was out of position in the 25 minute of play, and Noel Custódio capitalized on the mistake with a soft shot into the goal. Noel Custódio really showed his touch with that goal: 1-1. But to his dismay, Kléber de Mendonça quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 2-1. After some careless play in the Horizonte defense, Adhemar Paraense kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Clóvis Machado. The Horizonte fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Clóvis Machado should have stopped the shot. 5-1 became the score in the 42nd minute when Kléber de Mendonça elegantly shot the ball into goal just under the crossbar. After 45 played minutes Lobos do Cerrado got a freekick which was hit by Adhemar Paraense. 47 minutes into the match, Horizonte's goal looked a bit too open when Kléber de Mendonça came free, but Clóvis Machado reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. 48 minutes into the match, Horizonte's goalkeeper Clóvis Machado had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Wilson Chaves. Af the end of the first half the score was 5-1. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.

Diego Salgado fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 54th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Oscar Leite having to interfere. An unexpectedly hard shot by Kléber de Mendonça in the 56th minute of play forced Horizonte's goalkeeper Clóvis Machado to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Clóvis Machado showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Kléber de Mendonça, who was totally free with the ball in the 58th minute. After 89 played minutes, Horizonte's Mathias Hermes shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Oscar Leite came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line.
