Spectators: 5000 (Terracing: 4000, Seating: 1000, VIP seats: 0) 4 minutes into the game, Délio Aguiar lined in a short shot 1-0 behind a frustrated Enéas Magalhães. After 13 minutes, Afonsinho Santana mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Macatuba and the Congonhinhas players grew even worse after the yellow card. A collision led to Macatuba getting a freekick after 13 minutes play. Afonsinho Santana hit a great ball. 14 minutes into the game, Luiz Eduardo Esteves was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Congonhinhas's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Macatuba the free kick. In the 14th minute, Luiz Eduardo Esteves hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Osvaldinho França fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 17th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Enéas Magalhães having to interfere. An unexpectedly hard shot by Afonsinho Santana in the 19th minute of play forced Congonhinhas's goalkeeper Basílio Meira to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 25 minutes into the match, Congonhinhas's goal looked a bit too open when Gonçalo Melo came free, but Basílio Meira reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. 27 minutes into the game, Afonsinho Santana cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 1-1. Basílio Meira was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. In the 32ndth minute of the game Afonsinho Santana who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Congonhinhas's Basílio Meira was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. If Délio Aguiar had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 37th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 40 minutes into the match, Jailson Maia notched a goal, 1-2, to the right of Congonhinhas's Basílio Meira. Basílio Meira was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 1-2 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

After 54 minutes, Paulinho Neves mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Congonhinhas and the Macatuba players grew even worse after the yellow card. Macatuba's Afonsinho Santana got a good chance for a goal in the 57th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Délio Aguiar sent away a hard shot on goal in the 59th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Gonçalo Melo during the 60th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. Enéas Magalhães showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Délio Aguiar, who was totally free with the ball in the 62nd minute. Enéas Magalhães took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Osvaldinho França, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The audience thought a goal was coming when Afonsinho Santana got free with Basílio Meira in the 66th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. If Délio Aguiar had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 71st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Osvaldinho França sent away a hard shot on goal in the 73rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The supporters of Congonhinhas booed when Macatuba was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 74 match minutes in a wonderful position. Vladimir Nascimento didn't get a good kick on the ball. In a very dangerous position, a player in Macatuba fell when an opponent tried to get the ball from him in the 79th minute. Penalty! Osvaldinho França recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 87th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. After 90 minutes, Horácio de Mendonça mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Congonhinhas and the Macatuba players grew even worse after the yellow card. The supporters of Macatuba booed when Congonhinhas was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 92 match minutes in a wonderful position. Horácio de Mendonça didn't get a good kick on the ball. Basílio Meira didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Wilton da Fonseca went, in the 97th minute, to the upper right corner, 2-3 was the resulting score. The Macatuba supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing Macatuba would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
