Léo Lopes made a fantastic save in the 7th minute, when Christian de Toledo sent off a good shot on target. José Pedro Lago's late challenge caught a CORINTHIANS's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. José Pedro Lago helped the player get up and apologised. Juvenal Guerra received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 10th minute. Donato Arantes tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Luís Eduardo Sarmento in the 11th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Donato Arantes saved CORINTHIANS from getting behind. Flamengo's Léo Lopes proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 13th minute of the match, managed to save Flamengo from getting a goal against them. 14 minutes into the match, Jonas Duarte dribbled the ball past the defender and swiftly kicked the ball to the left of Léo Lopes, 1-0. In the 24th minute Arí Mello shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Léo Lopes saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. With a little luck, Flamengo's Léo Lopes got control of the ball when Christian de Toledo tried to sneak it across the goal line. Didi de Azevedo charged in rather forcefully in the 30th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Didi de Azevedo the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. Didi de Azevedo kicked well hit freekick during the 30th minute of the match. After 37 played minutes Jonas Duarte rounded Flamengo's defense and shot a beautiful shot into goal via left pole - 2-0. Flamengo's Luís Eduardo Sarmento got a good chance for a goal in the 44th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Raí Valadares made in the 47th minute of the game a fairly good throw-in which was taken care of by Maurício Favoretto.

When Flamengo's José Pedro Lago in the 53rd minute got a chance for a shot 53rd didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye CORINTHIANS's goalie prevented a goal. Arí Mello hit a great freekick 55 minutes into the match. After 63 minutes of play, Flamengo's Luís Eduardo Sarmento made it 2-2 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Donato Arantes was left in no man's land by his defense there! After 65 played minutes Flamengo got a freekick which was hit by José Pedro Lago. In the 67th match minute, Flamengo was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Reginaldo Gomes to maneuver through the defense. Flamengo's Léo Lopes played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Andrézinho Palmeira in the 70th minute of play. José Pedro Lago sent away a hard shot on goal in the 75th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After 77 played minutes, Flamengo's Reginaldo Gomes shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Donato Arantes came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Flamengo reached it. After some careless play in the Flamengo defense, Andrézinho Palmeira kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Léo Lopes. The Flamengo fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Léo Lopes should have stopped the shot. Léo Lopes made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Arí Mello in the 82nd minute of play. Flamengo's Léo Lopes played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Jonas Duarte in the 88th minute of play. Léo Lopes made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Andrézinho Palmeira in the 90th minute of play. José Pedro Lago fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 91st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Donato Arantes having to interfere. Léo Lopes took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Christian de Toledo, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side.
