In the 5th minute Otávio Tavares shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Erasmo de Azevedo saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After some careless play in the São Petersburgo FC defense, Otávio Tavares kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Erasmo de Azevedo. The São Petersburgo FC fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Erasmo de Azevedo should have stopped the shot. Régis Catarinense hit a great freekick 8 minutes into the match. The referee gave São Petersburgo FC a penalty, 13 minutes into the game. The penalty shot was made by Tomás Vinhas, who made a well placed shot into the net to the right of Bauru Atlético Clube's Jacinto Donatello. 1-1. If Régis Catarinense had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 16th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. In the 20th minute Gildo Mangueira shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Jacinto Donatello saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Erasmo de Azevedo made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Otávio Tavares in the 25th minute of play. After 26 minutes São Petersburgo FC's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Diguinho Braga who took care of the corner kick. The corner ended in Diguinho Braga almost managing to get the ball behind the net, but São Petersburgo FC's Erasmo de Azevedo did a great save. A collision led to São Petersburgo FC getting a freekick after 29 minutes play. Christiano Meira hit a great ball. Agostinho Vaz might have been able to make a better finish in the 33rd minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Jacinto Donatello. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Agostinho Vaz ran back to his position shaking his head. Erasmo de Azevedo came out of the goal in the 35th minute to try and stop a shot by Bauru Atlético Clube's Otávio Tavares. But to his dismay, Otávio Tavares quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 2-1. Agostinho Vaz struck a weak shot in the 47th minute. Jacinto Donatello didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for São Petersburgo FC. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 2-1.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Otávio Tavares was the one to do the kick off. A hard shot 52 in the game by Gildo Mangueira from a close distance when the talented Jacinto Donatello managed to make a qualified save. Bauru Atlético Clube's players were relieved. After 55 minutes, Diguinho Braga mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Bauru Atlético Clube and the São Petersburgo FC players grew even worse after the yellow card. After 55 played minutes Bauru Atlético Clube got a freekick which was hit by Diguinho Braga. Régis Catarinense got his second yellow card in the match during the 57th minute which meant that he had to leave the ground. São Petersburgo FC's Tomás Vinhas shoveled away a really nice long shot in the 59th minute of play. The shot was stopped by Jacinto Donatello but with some difficulty. During the 65th minute of the match João Moreno completely mistimed his tackle and brought down his opponent. The referee gave João Moreno a yellow card, his second in the match, which meant he could no longer take part in the game. The supporters of São Petersburgo FC booed when Bauru Atlético Clube was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 66 match minutes in a wonderful position. João Moreno didn't get a good kick on the ball. A hard shot by Tomás Vinhas from long distance, 69 minutes into the match, got Jacinto Donatello's attention. Through a fast twist with his body, he could stop the ball from going in on his right side. After a defensive mix-up in São Petersburgo FC's zone, André Luiz Maciel stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Erasmo de Azevedo came out of the goal and André Luiz Maciel tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Luís Fabiano Matorin hit a great freekick 77 minutes into the match. Erasmo de Azevedo took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Adalberto Eger, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Gildo Mangueira's late challenge caught a Bauru Atlético Clube's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Gildo Mangueira helped the player get up and apologised. Bauru Atlético Clube's fans were exulted and cheered after their team won in a match that could easily have gone the other way.
