Ronaldinho Magalhães started the match with the kick off. Ronaldinho Magalhães charged in rather forcefully in the 4th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Ronaldinho Magalhães the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. In the 5th minute, Ronaldinho Magalhães hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Soberano FC's Dedé Sá pulled a muscle in his leg after 16 minutes and couldn't finish the game. Betinho Dracena charged in rather forcefully in the 16th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Betinho Dracena the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. 20 minutes into the match, Agostinho Vaz notched a goal, 1-0, to the right of Soberano FC's Vinícius Capixaba. Vinícius Capixaba was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Soberano FC's Vinícius Capixaba proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 24th minute of the match, managed to save Soberano FC from getting a goal against them. After a defensive mix-up in São Petersburgo FC's zone, Ronaldinho Magalhães stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Erasmo de Azevedo came out of the goal and Ronaldinho Magalhães tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. 30 minutes into the match, São Petersburgo FC's Agostinho Vaz sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Vinícius Capixaba narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Agostinho Vaz recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 34th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Norberto Amorim's late challenge caught a São Petersburgo FC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Norberto Amorim helped the player get up and apologised. In the 37th minute, Norberto Amorim hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Marcelinho Mendes didn't quite understand what happened when in the 39 minute of the game managed to get a great opportunity for a goal and then missed the goal by a feet. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 1-0.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Eugênio Meirelles made a kick off. After a defensive mix-up in Soberano FC's zone, Agostinho Vaz stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Vinícius Capixaba came out of the goal and Agostinho Vaz tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Ronaldinho Magalhães got his second yellow card in the match during the 59th minute which meant that he had to leave the ground. In the 60th match minute, Soberano FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Ronaldinho Magalhães to maneuver through the defense. 64 minutes into the match, Soberano FC's goal looked a bit too open when Evandro de Senna came free, but Vinícius Capixaba reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Nilton Alagoano kicked well hit freekick during the 74th minute of the match. Vinícius Capixaba showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Eugênio Meirelles in the 80th minute of the match. Gildo Mangueira fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 81st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Vinícius Capixaba having to interfere. Vinícius Capixaba took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Eugênio Meirelles, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Vinícius Capixaba stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Eugênio Meirelles's shot from short distance in the 92nd minute. In the 96th minute, Eugênio Meirelles ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Vinícius Capixaba was frozen by the shot and now it was 2-0. For all the effort they put into the match, the Soberano FC players left disappointed. They had fought hard, but couldn't break down the home team's defense. The match ended in a win for São Petersburgo FC.
